Charles Darwin was born on February 12，1809，in a family，which lived not far from the River Severn． Charles'father was a well-known doctor and he hoped that his son would become a doctor． As a boy，Charles liked to go for walks in the fields and woods，comparing what he saw with everything he had read in the books．He was also fond of collecting many things，such as birds， eggs，stones，leaves and so on． At sixteen，Darwin was sent to Edinburgh University．But he was interested in natural history． Then he was sent to study at Cambridge University，from which he graduated in 1831． Darwin continued his scientific studies until he died in 1882．He was buried in Westminister Abbey．
