本集故事在中国拉开序幕，李连杰(blog)扮演一名公元前的中国帝王(或将军)，由于太过残暴受到女巫(杨紫琼)的诅咒，他和他的军队全部变成了兵马俑被封在地下宫殿中，等待着被人重新唤醒。
然后故事到了1946年，里克·奥康纳(布兰登·费舍尔)和伊芙琳(玛丽亚·贝罗)俩人已经隐退到英国牛津居住，平静的生活有些乏味，于是很高兴地接受了“最后的任务”———负责把一件从中国上海博物馆偷走的珍贵文物还给原主人。
此时里克和伊芙琳的儿子亚历克斯奥康纳(卢克·福德)此时已经长大，在父母不知情的情况下，他子承父业也成为一名考古学家，并且正在中国进行考古挖掘。
很快他有了重大发现：他找到了埋藏几千年的“龙帝”的墓葬。
而就在此时一名美丽的女刺客(梁洛施(听歌))想要杀死他，以免“龙帝”墓的所在位置被人们知道。
就在“龙帝”的纪念碑被运往上海的时候，军事狂热分子(黄秋生(听歌))也试图唤醒“龙帝”以得到兵马俑军队的帮助，统治世界。
在危急关头，女巫引导探险家的儿子与兵马俑首领决斗，最终杀出重围…… 虽然《木乃伊3》剧本在几经修改后，想出了兵马俑复活的点子，但很可惜早在程小东的《古今大战秦俑情》和唐季礼的《神话》中早就让兵马俑复活几次了，不知道这次好莱坞能不能让复活故事演得更精彩一点
