如何评价音乐剧《汉密尔顿》
是关于几个年轻的造反者如何使得一个不存在的国家逐渐成形的故事，几位美国“国父”级别的人物亚历山大-汉密尔顿、乔治-华盛顿（）、托马斯-杰弗逊（美国第三任总统）、詹姆斯-麦迪逊（美国第四任总统）在这部剧中征战沙场、撰写宪法、探讨经济局势，互相之间口诛笔伐，但又情深意切。
虽然演员服装和都得到了真实的还原，但却不是一部让人正襟危坐的历史剧。
这几位由非裔或拉丁族裔的演员扮演的“国父”互相之间交流的方式居然是嘻哈音乐中的饶舌说唱
歌词则是当下流行的街头俚语和文绉绉的政治用语的混合体，这种既和谐又违和的感觉经常引发观众爆笑不止。
而它之所以被称为神作，我认为切中了以下几个要点。
首先，汉密尔顿作为不太为人熟知的开国元勋之一，他的故事正中美国社会一直以来有着强烈需求的，以及近年来愈演愈烈的政治正确文化。
作为传记性的音乐剧剧本，既囊括了宏大的历史场面，也细致刻画了每个小人物的性格特征以及喜怒哀乐。
这让观众在充满自豪感的回顾美国建国始末的同时，更加贴近并了解剧中的人物，产生一种微妙的情感投射。

起源于黑人街头文化的嘻哈音乐，虽然在音乐产业获得了很大的成功，但在主流戏剧界却一直被拒之门外。
这种音乐形式从上世纪90年代中起，已经逐渐成为美国流行乐市场的顶梁柱，并在大众心中打下了非常坚实的基础，再加上Lin-Manuel个人对饶舌的深刻理解，他从角色身上体会到的充满自由的嘻哈精神，以及他将音乐与故事无缝接合的能力，使得《汉密尔顿》这部音乐剧获得评论界和票房的双重成功。

在采访中，有人问他少数族裔扮演“国父”是否会让观众因为觉得不真实而频繁出戏时，他说，“我们的演员表看上去就和现在的美国一样。

百老汇音乐剧作为几乎纯市场化的艺术形式，这样保守、稳妥的选择本身无可厚非，但是，观众和市场的期待不会一成不变，像2011年的《摩门经》（Book of Mormon）和今年的《汉密尔顿》这样，分别从题材和音乐形式上挑战传统、颠覆认知，更是窥到了连观众自己都未曾察觉的需求，把握甚至引领了市场趋势。
百老汇金牌制作人肯-达文波特（Ken Davenport）这样说，“我的公司理念曾经是这么写的，‘我们是世界一流的，具有创新精神的之类的’……两年前，我把它改成了‘我们只做别人不能或不敢做的玩意儿’”。
所以说，在这个娱乐方式普遍化与多样化的今天，追随着成功作品的脚步亦步亦趋，你也许可以混得不错，但是，独特、创新和冒险则是获得巨大成功的唯一途径。
