《尼罗河上的惨案》摄制于1978年，在那之前不久，第一部群星荟萃的克里斯蒂电影《东方快车谋杀案》取得了极大的成功，因此，《尼罗河上的惨案》基本沿袭了《东》片的模式。
谋杀同样发生在一个相当封闭的空间，作为旅行者中一员的波洛不情愿地承担起了破案的任务。
两者的不同之处在于，在东方快车上，似乎没有人有谋杀的动机，而在尼罗河里的一艘游船上，每个人好象都有杀死美丽的女继承人林内特·里奇韦的理由，其中一个的动机特别强烈，那就是她的情敌杰奎琳·德·贝尔福特。
唯一没有凶嫌的是死者的新婚丈夫西蒙·道尔。
而出乎意料的是，凶手竟是------ 该片让人印象最深的除了扑朔迷离的情节外，也许就是那些演技出众、风度翩翩的大牌明星了。
