亨特·佐勒蒙（Hunter Zolomon）是一起家庭悲剧的幸存者。
他的父母在同一天去世了，而死去的方法却是亨特无论如何也想象不到与接受不了的——他的父亲杀掉了他的母亲，而他的父亲则死在了随即到来的警察的枪口下。
长大之后的亨特成为了一名FBI探员，但是由于他的一次错误致使了亨特的岳父死于非命，亨特丢了工作，更加严重的是他的妻子为此离开了他。

在经过了极为漫长的沮丧与消沉之后，落寞的佐勒蒙找到了闪电侠，恳求他能够通过改变历史重塑他的人生。

他坚信唯有风险和强大的敌人才可以让英雄成长，而亨特决定成为闪电侠最大的敌人。
从他做出这个决定开始，世界上不再有亨特·佐勒蒙，只有Zoom的存在。
在一次战斗之中，Zoom用他的速度到达了一个未知的领域。
在冻结的时间之中，他看到了他自己那些痛苦而不堪回首的过往。
在从这个神秘的领域脱离之后，Zoom觉得这个经历很好很强大，他决定将沃利（Wally）带入这个领域，在领域中，沃利再一次目睹了Zoom攻击了琳达（Linda）并杀死他们孩子的过程。
讽刺的是，这次的穿越造成了时空的扭曲，沃利真的获得了挽救一切的机会，而Zoom期望通过痛苦让沃利重生的想法却并没能实现。
