(Like the Eight Immortals crossing the sea, each one shows his or her special prowess) According to the Chinese folk legend, there were Eight Immortals named Han Zhongli,Zhang Guolao,Han Xiangzi,Li Tieguai,Cao Guojiu,Lu Dongbin,Lan Caihe and He xianggu in ancient China. Once the Eight Immortals were invited to attend an Immortality Peach Party given by the Queen Mother of the Western Heaven. When they reached the bank of the Eastern Sea,there were no ships for them to go across the vast sea at all. Then Lu Dongbin suggested that each of them used his or her treasure to ride across the sea.

夜郎自大(ludicrous conceit of the King of Yelang-parochial arrogance) It is recorded that in order to keep in touch with the countries of the Southwest and find the passageway of going to India,Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty had sent Wang Yanyu and others to take a small road to find the passageway. On the way, they met the King of the Kingdom of Dian, who asked Wang a question:Which is bigger, the Han Dynasty or out Kingdom?Wang explained that there were dozens of prefectures in the Han Dynasty, and the territory of Dian was just like one of them. Then they met the King of Yelang who also asked the same questiong. In fact,Yelang was a very small Kingdom in the Southwest. Its territory was just like a count of Han\\\\'s.Actually they always thought that they had a vast territory and didn\\\\'t know anything about the Han Dynasty.

A man of the state of Chu had a spear and a shield for sale. He was loud in praises of his shield. My shield is so strong that nothing can pierce it through. He also sang praises of his spear. My spear is so strong that it can pierce through anything. What would happen, he was asked, if your spear is used to pierce your shield? It is impossible for an impenetrable shield to coexist with a spear that finds nothing impenetrable.

Whether sixty or sixteen, there is in every human being’s heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing childlike appetite of what’s next and the joy of the game of living. In the center of your heart and my heart there is a wireless station: so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer, courage and power from men and from the infinite, so long are you young.

An individual human existence should be like a river—small at first, narrowly contained within its banks, and rushing passionately past boulders and over waterfalls. Gradually the river grows wider, the banks recede, the waters flow more quietly, and in the end, without any visible break, they become merged in the sea, and painlessly lose their individual being.

Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity,of the appetite for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of sixty more than a boy of twenty.Nobody grows old merely by a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals.

Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. Worry, fear, self-distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust.

What may be done at any time will be done at no time. Time In my native place I am unable to witnessthe entire history of a wall Because I am unable to experience, in a flash, by myselfthe course of a grain of dustfrom birth to deathO, time!Who has cut you into pieceswith an invisible scissorson the platform of distance and speedActually, we needn’t to probe the origin of time Because it doesn’t have the so-called beginning at all Also we won’t ask where its home is Because in the vast spaceit is equal to infinity Time is the heart in darkness Each of its beatis like a lightning It is the bridge of the past, today and the futureBe sure, this isn’t God’s willbut seems as if an absolute truthWhen time leaves us it will never return All lives, thoughts and legaciesdwell in the palace of timeO, time!A most just judgeIt tries lies and upholds justice alsoIt is it, at the last moment that always changes the forms of existence of all kinds of spirits and matter It is always born in deathand always dies with birth It contains all but it is beyond all If there is really something immortal in the world I am sure: It is time!
