I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation. 今天,我高兴地同大家一参加这次将成为我国历史上争取自由而举行的最伟示威集会。
Five score years ago, a great American, in whose symbolic shadow we stand today, signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames of withering injustice. In a sense we've come to our nation's capital to cash a check. When the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the unalienable Rights of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note, insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked insufficient funds. 从某种意义上说,我们来到国家的首都是为了兑现一张支票。

父母可能会因为孩子参与征战,而感到不安,孩子可能回不来,所以恐惧着,不安着。
如果战争失败了,人民将受到压迫和欺侮,为国家征战的士兵可能成为俘虏,受到非人的待遇。
老、弱、妇、孺都因为没有反抗的能力,可能要参与重度劳动,可能就在哪天因为伤、病、患离开人世。
