英语作文带翻译100字
最好的版本是由现供职于美国堪萨斯大学自然历史博物馆暨生物多样性研究所的苗德岁教授翻译的《物种起源》。
在前不久举行的“新译《物种起源》出版沙龙”上，中科院院士、瑞典皇家科学院外籍院士张弥曼教授，中科院院士、美国科学院外籍院士周忠和教授对这一新译给予了高度评价，苗德岁教授做了精彩发言，讲述了《物种起源》及其新译本背后的故事。
作为经典名著，《物种起源》在国内已有很多译本，现在还有必要重译吗?在达尔文生前，《物种起源》总共出版了6版，以前国内均选择最后一版翻译，苗德岁则选择了第二版进行翻译，这是为什么?关于达尔文和《物种起源》，国际上有哪些新的研究进展?苗德岁在对这些问题的回答中传达了很多新信息，现我们整理成文(参考了书中“译者序”等文字)，以飨广大读者。
翻译缘起 最开始译林出版社的编辑黄颖女士找到周忠和院士，忠和向出版社推荐了我，但我几乎未加思索便婉拒了。
为什么呢?因为我知道，翻译《物种起源》将是一件太过艰巨的任务。
黄颖是我南大的校友，她很有坚持精神，也很有策略，有一搭没一搭地跟我保持着邮件联系。
2010年暑假我去南京地质古生物研究所访问，她提出请我吃顿饭。
饭局上还有时任译林出版社人文社科编辑部主任的李瑞华先生(现为译林出版社副社长)。
席间，他们也没触及翻译《物种起源》话题，只是希望我有暇时，可以给他们推荐甚或翻译一些国外的好书。
几个月后的圣诞节前夕，小黄给我发邮件说，她又找了别的译者，但是感觉译文还是没有达到他们期望的水准。
她说，如果世界上有一本书值得翻译的话，还有比《物种起源》更值得你亲自翻译的吗?她又给我戴高帽子，说如果在华语世界有一个能翻译这本书的人，除了苗公您，还能找到谁?高帽子加激将法，让我如何拒绝?我马上回邮件说，就凭你这句话，这活儿我接了。
邮件一发出去，我就后悔了，但是你知道电子邮件可以send，但没有un-send键。
我只能硬着头皮投入这项工作了。
伟大的《物种起源》 我在译序里说:“名著如同名人，对其评头论足者多，而对其亲阅亲知者少。
达尔文的《物种起源》便是这一现象的显明例子之一。
”据我的观察，即使相关领域的科研人员，也大多无暇通读或精读这部著作。
所以我常跟年轻朋友们说，尽管你们现在压力很大，要追踪前沿，要发表文章，但还是要看一些“闲书”，因为这样的阅读在你以后的研究中会给你想象不到的启发和灵感，像《物种起源》这样的名著尤其如此。
《物种起源》是少数几本可以称得上改变了世界的书，这样的书还有大家熟悉的《圣经》，马克思的《资本论》等等，它是这一级别的名著。
《物种起源》发表到现在已经155年了，尽管生物学、地学有很多新的进展，但达尔文所建立的理论框架依然巍然矗立，它经受住了时间的考验。
现在的很多学科，像生物地理学、动物行为学、生态学等等，尽管达尔文的时代还没有这些学科的名字，但是达尔文这本书已经为这些学科打下了基础。
再过150年，这本书也不会过时。
我在翻译和研究的过程中，确实对达尔文崇拜得五体投地。
达尔文那时并没有我们今天这样的研究条件和知识基础，他能够写出这样一部伟大的著作，太了不起了。
为什么选择第二版 为什么选择第二版为翻译底本呢?达尔文生前，《物种起源》共出版了6个版本，其中第一版和第二版相隔时间很近。
按照达尔文本人的说法，第一版是1859年11月24日出版，第二版是1860年1月7日出版;达尔文研究专家派克汉姆查阅了该书出版社的出版记录，则认为第一版是1859年11月26日出版，第二版是1859年12月26日出版。
也就是说，第一版和第二版相隔只有一个半月或一个整月的时间。
第二版甚至没有经过重新排版，相比第一版的改动也很少。
根据派克汉姆的研究，达尔文在第二版中删除了9个句子，新增了30个句子，此外还有一些印刷、标点符号、拼写、语法、措辞等方面错误的更正。
在其后十二年间的第三(1861)、第四 (1866)、第五(1866)、第六(1872)版中，尤其是自第四版开始，达尔文为了应对别人的批评，做了大量修改，以至于第六版的篇幅比第一、二版多出了三分之一。
正如我在“版本说明”中所写，“限于当时的认识水平，那些对他的批评很多是错误的，而他的答复往往也是错误的”。
譬如他越来越求助于拉马克“获得性性状的遗传”的观点，这就偏离了他原先正确的立场。
鉴于此，当今的生物学家以及达尔文研究者们，大都垂青与推重第一版;而近二十年来，西方各出版社重新印行的，也多为第一版。
然而，牛津大学出版社的“牛津世界经典丛书”的1996年版以及2008年版，却都采用了第二版，理由很简单:与第一版相比，它纠正了一些明显的错讹，但总体上没有什么大的改动。
最终，我采用了“牛津世界经典丛书”2008年版为翻译底本。
