德鲁克先生在书中谈到，对于“创新”的误解，主要有这么几种，一是把“创新”与聪明的创意或发明混为一谈；二是一提到它就想到科学性的创造发明；三是很多人认为凡开创一项新生意或者新事业就是创新。
事实上，创新对于企业来说，主要是看能否为客户创造出新的价值，提供新的服务。
创新必须是主观意愿而不是偶然的机遇。
书中德鲁克先生告诉我们，创新的机会处处都有，创新的行为人人都可以做到，更为重要的是创新是可以学习、可以训练的。
这就是说，创新并不是偶然遇到的机遇，不是不可控制的，创新的思维、行为是只要我们有这样的主观意愿就可以学习得会，掌握得了，实践得下去的。
因此，面对创新的要求，我们必须养成正确的心态。
首先是要克服对于创新的畏难情绪，不要因为改变有可能遭受失败就抵触和抗拒；其次要有持续的韧性，创新的过程必然是曲折的，因此要有足够的心理准备来应对创新过程中可能会遇到的挫折，要有健康的心理来调整创新实践的思路和步骤；最后要有耐力，就算经历了多次失败，只要坚信方向是正确的就一定要坚持推行下去。

从创新的思维到付诸创新实践，到取得创新成果，这中间的过程对于一些人来说可能是难以逾越的鸿沟。
