Shortly thereafter, the passengers heard the captain's voice again, Guess what, folks. We just lost our third engine, but please be assured we can fly with only one. In china, people believe that, at the beginning, the tiger and the cat were friends, and the cat was much smarter than the tiger .The cat learned the physical skills quickly, and the tiger was always behind. Gradually, the tiger had to learn from the cat, and the cat was patient to teach the tiger. Day after day, month after month, finally, the tiger could also run, jump, roll, grasp, tear, and strike as well as the cat.
One summer afternoon, the cat was taking a nap as the tiger sitting nearby. Looking at the cat, the tiger suddenly thought, why should he keep befriending with such a small animal since he had already learnt all the skills from the cat? The evil tiger decided to kill the sleeping cat as a before dinner snack. The tiger stood up and approached the cat viciously. Just as this moment, the cat woke up. Opening up her eyes, the smart cat immediately realized what the tiger was trying to do and swiftly jumped onto a nearby tall tree and climbed to the top branch.
The tiger thought he had already learned every skill from the cat .But he never knew that the cat had hidden the tree climbing from him.
“I kept the last technique of the tree climbing from you just because I suspected you might be can ungrateful friend.” The cat loudly told the tiger who watched under the tree helplessly.“我没有让你学这最后一个爬树的技巧,因为我怀疑你可能会是个不知感恩的朋友。
The Rabbit and The Wolf’ One day a rabbit was walking near the hill. He heard someone crying,‘Help! Help!’It was a wolf. A big stone was on the wolfs back. He cried, Mr. Rabbit, take this big stone from my back, or I will die. The Rabbit moved the stone from the wolfs back. Then the wolf jumped and caught the rabbit. “If you kill me, I will never help you again.” Cried the rabbit . “Ha,ha!You will not live, because I will kill you. said the wolf.‘I helped you. How can you kill me? It’s unfair. You ask Mrs. Duck. She will say that you are wrong. said the rabbit. “I will ask her,” said the wolf. So they went to ask Mrs. Duck. The duck listened to their story and said,” What stone? I must see it. Then I can know who is right. “So the wolf and the rabbit and the duck went to see the stone. Now, put the stone back, said Mrs. Duck. So they put the stone back. Now the big stone is on the wolf’s back again. That’s all for my story. Thanks for listening.

Would you marry my daughter?”
“What? I’m not the greatest person in the world. The greatest person is YOU, the mouse.”

“Yes, the greatest person in the world is mouse. See? If mouse comes out, I’ll be bit!”

He finally knew mouse was the greatest person in the world.
He would marry his daughter to the handsome mouse next door. The Golden Touch Midas, son of the Great Goddess of Ida,by a hero whosename is not remembered ,was a pleasureloving King of Macedonian Bromium, where he ruled over the Brigians and planted his famous rose gardens. One day,the old hero Silenus,Dionysus' former teacher, happened to straggle from the main body of the Dionysian army as it marched out of Thrace into Boeotia, and was found sleeping and drunken in the rose gardens. The gardeners tied him and ledhim before Midas,to whom he told wonderful tales of a big continent lying beyond the Ocean's stream ——altogether separatefrom the united mass of Europe,Asia,or Africa——where gigantic, happy, and longlived people lived in splendid cities, enjoying a wonderful law system.Midas, delighted with Silenus' fictions, entertained him for five days and nights, and then ordered a guide to lead him to Dionysus' headquarters. Dionysus, who had been worrying about Silenus, sent toask how Midas wished to be rewarded. He replied without hesitation:‘Please turn all I touch into gold.' However, not onlystones, flowers, and the furnishings of his house turned to gold but, when he sat down to table,so did the food he ate and the water he drank .Midas soon begged to be freed from his wish, because he was fast dying of hunger and thirst.Highlyamused ,Dionysus told him to visit the source of the river Pactolus and there wash himself. He obeyed, and was at oncefreed from the golden touch, but the sands of the river Pactolusare bright with gold to this day.
It happened that the cat met Mr. Fox in the woods. She thought, He is intelligent and well experienced, and is highly regarded in the world, so she spoke to him in a friendly manner, Good-day, my dear Mr. Fox. How is it going? How are you? How are you getting by in these hard times? The fox, filled with arrogance, examined the cat from head to feet, and for a long time did not know whether he should give an answer. At last he said, Oh, you poor beard-licker, you speckled fool, you hungry mouse hunter, what are you thinking? Have you the nerve to ask how I am doing? What do you know? How many tricks do you understand? I understand but one, answered the cat, modestly. What kind of a trick is it? asked the fox. When the dogs are chasing me, I can jump into a tree and save myself. Is that all? said the fox. I am master of a hundred tricks, and in addition to that I have a sackful of cunning. I feel sorry for you. Come with me, and I will teach you how one escapes from the dogs. Just then a hunter came by with four dogs. The cat jumped nimbly up a tree, and sat down at its top, where the branches and foliage completely hid her. Untie your sack, Mr. Fox, untie your sack, the cat shouted to him, but the dogs had already seized him, and were holding him fast. Oh, Mr. Fox, shouted the cat. You and your hundred tricks are left in the lurch. If you been able to climb like I can, you would not have lost your life.
A man walking in the night slipped from a rock. Afraid that he would fall down thousands of feet, because he knew that place was a very deep valley, he took hold of a branch that was hanging over the rock. In the night all he couls see was a bottomless abyss. He shouted, his own shout reflected back--there was nobody to hear. You can imagine that man and his whole night of scare. Every moment there was death, his hands were becoming cold, he was losing his grip...... and as the sun came out he looked down and he laughed. There was no abyss. Just six inches down there was a rock. He could have rested the whole night, slept well---the rock was big enough---but the whole night was a nightmare. Fear is only six inches deep. Now it is up to you whether you want to go on cling to the branch and turn your life into a nightmare, or whether you would love to leave the branch and stand on your feet. There is nothing to fear.
Once there were two mice. They were friends. One mouse lived in the country; the other mouse lived in the city. After many years the Country mouse saw the City mouse; he said, Do come and see me at my house in the country. So the City mouse went. The City mouse said, This food is not good, and your house is not good. Why do you live in a hole in the field? You should come and live in the city. You would live in a nice house made of stone. You would have nice food to eat. You must come and see me at my house in the city. The Country mouse went to the house of the City mouse. It was a very good house. Nice food was set ready for them to eat. But just as they began to eat they heard a great noise. The City mouse cried, Run! Run! The cat is coming! They ran away quickly and hid. After some time they came out. When they came out, the Country mouse said, I do not like living in the city. I like living in my hole in the field. For it is nicer to be poor and happy, than to be rich and afraid.
There were many mice in a house. The man of the house got a cat. The cat killed many of the mice. Then the oldest mouse said, All mice must come to my hole tonight, and we will think what we can do about this cat.’ All the mice came. Many mice spoke, but none knew what to do. At last a young mouse stood up and said, We must put a bell on the cat. Then, when the cat comes near, we shall hear the bell and run away and hide. So the cat will not catch any more mice.’ Then the old mouse asked, Who will put the bell on the cat? No mouse answered. He waited; but still no one answered. At last he said, It is not hard to say things; but it is harder to do them.
