What i like about my school When I was asked what I liked about XXX School, I only had to think a little while before I answered. Basically, what I like about my school is that it offers me a good education, in a friendly atmosphere. The many improvements that have been made over the years, and are still being made, help with the schooling. Recent improvements include the refurbishment of the technology rooms, library and science laboratories and the new computers, which have access to the lnternet. There is a special needs department, who not only help students who are less able, but have schemes to extend those who are more able. As well as classes, there is a variety of sport teams, such as football, netball, basketball and athletics. There are also many music groups, which are held during the lunch break. Amongst these are the choir, orchestra and jazz groups. Music lessons can also be arranged through the school, and many students take advantage of the opportunity. There are also drama productions throughout the year, which any student can be part of. As well as the subject day trips, there are other longer annual trips, which usually last a few days. These include trips to Bayeux in France, York and a oating holiday on the Norfolk Broads. There are also skiing trips and adventure camps. All of the trips are a lot of fun, and there are many fond memories. Our school olds many charity events, for example the bi-annual sponsored walk, where Church Street pupils walk 12 miles and Shooting Field students walk 15 miles. There is also the annual 'Jail Break' which the students in the 6th Form take part in. This event is where students (who are dressed in prison uniforms), escape from school and travel to a meeting point in whatever way they can, collecting money along the way. It's a tot of fun for everyone. All of the above are reasons why I, and many others, like going to Steyning Grammar School, and will spend many enjoyable years there.

When the aerials are down , and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old ,even at 20 , but as long as your aerials are up ,to catch waves of optimism , there is hope you may die young at 80.
