她执着地相信斯佳丽和阿希礼，即使有人亲眼看见他们搂在一起，也执着地相信他们，保护斯佳丽。
她明知自己的身体无法再承受生育的痛苦，却执着地要再为阿希礼生个孩子，最终离开了她爱了一辈子的亲人们。
真的是太伟大了，看着玫兰妮，使我想到许许多多的中国古代女性，她们也是如此的善良，任劳任怨，相夫教子，然后默默无名地老去、死去。
整部书中，我最为喜欢的人物就是瑞特。
他勇敢、执着，他能那么深地爱着斯佳丽十几年不变。
他想保护斯佳丽，宠爱斯佳丽，照料斯佳丽，让她事事称心，而斯佳丽却拒绝了。
他说过，再永恒的爱也会有磨光的时候，而他的爱，是被斯佳丽，被阿希礼，被斯佳丽愚蠢的固执磨光的。
他的心，死了。
当他女儿离开他时，他的心，再也回不来了。

在萨基生活的时代，鬼故事是英国文学中非常受普通读者欢迎的类别。

这说明她与这些人只是泛泛之交。
这种相互造访的社交活动不过是填补生活空白，打发时间的虚伪程式而已。
读罢《敞开的窗户》的读者，或许会有这样的疑问：为什么侄女要对素昧平生的陌生人开近乎是恶意的玩笑，让一个本来就神经紧张的脆弱男子几乎神经崩溃
答案应该是这种社交礼节让人厌烦到了恨不得想反抗的程度。
弗兰姆顿没有想象力，呆板沉闷，以自我为中心，并略带神经质。
可以想象，陪着这样一个人物，坐上许久，是一件多么无聊的事情。
根据当时的社会规范，维拉不能将客人撇在那里，独自离开。
难怪小姑娘打算反抗一下，和初来乍到的弗兰姆顿先生开了这样一个大玩笑。
在正常的情况下，维拉的谎言是非常容易揭穿的。
只要弗兰姆顿问问她的姑母就会发现事实真相。
小姑娘的计谋之所以能够得逞，原因还是要回到社交礼仪的虚伪之上。
按照维多利亚时代英国社会“礼貌”、“周到”的标准，在公开的社会场合，人们是不能随便袒露内心的真实所想，也不允许随便询问别人的生活。
于是，社交场合的谈话往往是围绕着一些无关紧要的话题，比如天气、生活琐事等等。
弗兰姆顿言语行动都谨守得体原则，他和维拉聊天的时候，“绞尽脑汁想找些得体的话来说，盼望既能够奉承了侄女，又不让马上就要下来的姑姑感觉受到轻慢”。
当他发现赛普顿太太唠唠叨叨地谈论她的丈夫的时候，因为是初次见面的缘故，根本不敢坦言安慰，劝她节哀顺变。
要是他有这样的勇气，小姑娘的谎言马上就会被揭穿。
在《敞开的窗户》这篇小说中，人和人之间的关系带有一定的异化隔膜的成分。
姐姐不了解弟弟的真实需要，客人除了姓名和地址对主人的情况一无所知，甚至是在小姑娘和赛普顿太太之间也存在着不理解。
维拉和她的姑姑关系是近是远，小说并没有做出朋确的介绍。
不过显然赛普顿太太并不了解侄女有如此高妙的编故事的能力。
如果她能多了解一些维拉，当弗兰姆顿吓得从屋子里狂奔出去的时候，她就应该能够判断一定是小姑娘在背后捣鬼，用恶作剧把客人吓跑了。
《敞开的窗户》看似一个鬼故事，却是一幅社会讽刺画。
在一个典型的社交场合，在场的三个人说着客套话，却各自想着各自的心思。
姑姑在焦急地等待丈夫归来，小姑娘在想着如何捉弄无聊的客人，客人在自顾自沉浸在对自己病体的自怨自艾中。
然而正是这样一个虚伪沉闷的场合，却因为小姑娘丰富的想象力和表演才能变成了一个峰回路转高潮迭起的精彩故事。
