沈年少即投身，随军队辗转川黔湘边境。
吃过苦，也阅尽了社会的黑暗。
心生厌倦后，即开始进行文学创作。
可以说从文的一生是奉献的一生，也是努力的一生。
只上过小学，但却凭着对文学的爱好，以及自己对社会人事的切肤体验和深刻观察，写出了当时社会喜爱的文字，从而跻身当时的“中层社会”。
可是他从来都自称是是一个“乡下人”，无时不感觉到，呆在这个群体里愈是长久，愈是感觉和周围的人“格格不入”。
