丁汝昌寓所 建于1889年，丁汝昌家眷在此居住六年。
按清北洋水师章程规定，海军军官只有丁汝昌才可带家眷住岛上，其它官员一律驻舰上。
但是当时清军上下很腐败，军纪不严，丁汝昌也带头破坏军规。
大家看了公府很气派，面积又大，丁汝昌根本用不了这么多房子，他主张将剩下的房子租给其他官员的家眷住。

丁汝昌祖籍安徽巢县注郎中村，出身贫苦，参加过太平军，后随主将程学启降清，建战功升至总兵，后与上司刘铭传有矛盾，解甲归田。
1879年到天津投奔同乡、老上司李鸿章，被派往英国学习海军。
1888年北洋海军成军任提督。
丁汝昌自杀后，清迁将其棺枢锁上三道铜箍，不准人葬，以示惩罪。
直至1910年，经威海、荣成等地绅民及一些官员的奏请，才为其昭雪，得以下葬。

刘公岛炮台 刘公岛上有清代炮台6座，共有各种口径的古炮58门。
炮台工程规模浩大，施工严谨，造型巧妙，坚固实用。
其中主要有： 黄岛炮台，位于刘公岛最西端的黄岛上，建于清光绪十六年（1890年），设有口径24厘米平炮4门，速射炮3门，6厘米口径，行营炮2门，地下通道全长200米，炮台尚存，地道完好。
公所后炮台，位于刘公岛海军公所后面，建于清光绪十五年（1899年），设有24厘米口径地阱炮2门，7．5厘米口径行营炮6门，速射炮8门，建兵舍14间。

旗顶山炮台，位于刘公岛最高点旗顶山，建于清光绪十六年（1890年），分地下掩蔽体和地上炮位两部分，设有24厘米口径平射炮4门，建有5公里护墙及弹药库。
北洋海军铁码头位于刘公岛西南，为北洋海军停泊战舰之用，建于清光绪十五年（1889年），铁码头墩桩用厚铁板钉成方柱，径四五尺，长五六丈，中灌水泥，凝结如石，直入海底。
1915年重建，上部改按铁架，长205米，宽6．9米，水深负7米。
1935年铁板锈蚀，威海卫管理公署会同中国海军、地方绅商、英国海军联合成立了修理铁码头工程委员会，重修后的铁码头，涨潮时可停泊万吨轮船。
1953年，威海市政府将已锈蚀的铁板、墩桩、铁框等拆除，用优质钢材进行重修。
1971年，在原来的基础上增建了实堤“丁仍为人民海军使用。
