那么,导游员的工作特点之一就是要身体力行。
导游员被称为一个组织、一个地区的形象大使,他们在国内与国际交往中起到非常重要的作用,即使他们掌握了扎实的理论知识,但却不能用于实践工作中,他们也不能被称为是合格的导游员。
2.专业性强 众所周知,在旅游英语课的教学中必然会涉及深厚的旅游专业知识。
因此,在授课过程中就应该注重专业知识的渗透。
这样学生必会对旅游产生浓厚的学习兴趣,否则,学生只觉得旅游和自己的生活联系少,兴趣自然就不会高了。
要了解旅游知识就该了解其最基本的知识——旅游的六大基本要素:食、住、行、游、购、娱及旅游资源、旅游规划、饭店、旅行社、旅游景点等各个部门的知识,因此在教学中教师应要求学生掌握这些基本的旅游知识。
如果开设相关专业的课程,对大学生的兴趣和今后的学习将会有更大的帮助。

二、将英语情景教学融入旅游英语课中 兴趣是上好这门课的第一步。
那么如何培养学生的兴趣成为关键。
因此,在课堂上,教师应尽可能多地给学生创造真实的实践环境。
比如在机场接送旅游团,如何致欢迎词和欢送词, 入住宾馆、沿途导游、景点讲解等,笔者在课堂教学中根据不同环境和内容将情景融入教学中, 学生反映还是很好的。
这里笔者就以Temple Tour:FaMen Temple 举例说明。
1.课文背景介绍 笔者认为这是每课的知识铺垫,可使学生对寺庙这一历史资源有个整体的了解。
中国寺庙根据地域和信仰可以分为禅宗寺庙、喇嘛寺庙、道教寺庙三类。
比如班禅源于佛教,经历史的发展演变已成为第一大佛教思想,因此禅宗寺庙在国内分布最广泛,在讲解中笔者也会将英文翻译展示给学生,每个单元都遵循这样的顺序,由面到点,由整体到局部,并运用多媒体课件。
传统的那些教学模式显得陈旧,样式也老套,教师在平时备课时可以在网上将喜爱的图片或者适合旅游英语教学的图片存起来,自己制作课件,选择的图片最好能和每个单元的主题相关, 虽然需要花很多工夫,但学生喜欢,可以在教学的过程中激起他们浓厚的兴趣。
2.多媒体课件讲解 比如介绍的主题是名闻天下的西岳华山,文章中主要是将读者作为游客,带其游览华山的风景,青山、险峻、奇石。
在授课中,笔者更倾向于一篇现场导游词的讲解,然后让学生现场讲解。
为了能让学生对华山有个整体的认识,我又将相关的景点介绍融入其中,如回心石、擦耳崖、华山日出等,展示给学生一个整体的感觉。
3.情景演绎 这是最为困难的一个步骤,属于产出的过程。
在结束每个单元的讲解后,笔者都会安排学生对本课所学的内容进行操练,可以进行group work,让学生通过角色扮演(role play),身临其境,并且充分发挥自己的想象力,促进学生主动学习的积极性。
另外一种方法是将所学的知识用自己的语言组织起来,再将它们讲出来,每次课的前十几分钟笔者都是这样做的,这样能达到温习书本知识的效果。
但在教授的过程中,学生还是存在着一定的问题,如有的学生过于拘泥于教材内容,还有的学生缺乏一定的跨文化交际知识,在交流中经常会出现文化休克的现象。
在教学中如能加入跨文化交际知识的讲解,可以使学生在与外宾交流中起到润滑剂的作用, 避免冲突,不至于使双方很尴尬。
三、存在的主要问题 1.教材相对比较单一 大多数旅游英语专业的教材只是针对本省或是某个地区,没有全国范围内对景点的整体介绍,而且相同的主题在介绍的时候语言几乎都是一致的,缺少参考的教材;一部分教材把较深的旅游专业知识全盘译成英文,这对没有旅游专业知识铺垫的英语学习者来说很难理解,而且像高职高专这样的职业院校,这样的纯理论的东西显得不太实用,应将具体的景点介绍加入其中,重点讲解好词好句,如能背诵更好,这样才能达到锻炼的目的。
另外,如能出版一些各地风光片的英文版光盘,再加上导游员的现场导游,学生就可以模仿,这样对于技能的要求又有进一步的提高,适合那些基础和能力都较高的学生。
2.旅游英语专业的教师所存在的问题 目前多数旅游英语教师毕业专业并不是旅游专业,多数是英语专业,甚至有的教师一边学一边教,因此很难保证教学效果。
因此,笔者认为教师应该多参加旅游专业教学培训,可以向有丰富经验的教师取经,做到取长补短。
同时,鼓励教授该课的教师根据自己的情况报考导游证, 这样会有更多的实践机会和经验,对上好旅游英语课有极大的帮助。
3.缺少校内实习实训基地 目前大多数开设旅游英语专业的学校,其教学与实践基本上都是脱节的。
首先传授理论知识,然后利用其他的学期进行实践。
如果能把理论与实践结合起来,就可以收到较好的效果。
但是由于实习实践需要一定的物质支持,所以大多数学生都需要靠自己在实践中去总结,这样就耽误了不少宝贵的时间。
因此,笔者建议学校为学生创造和提供实践的机会。
