死亡就可以了或者嗝儿屁着凉了”、翘辫子”、踹腿”、蹬腿儿古代根据人的社会地位，对死亡”各有其名称。
《礼记》谓天子死为崩”；诸侯死为薨”；大夫死曰卒”；士曰不禄”；庶人曰死”。
清代，对于王、公、侯、伯的世爵之死，称为薨”；有官职，有名望的人死曰卒”。
(二)根据人的年龄。
不满20岁死亡的谓之殇”。
此又分为三类8～11岁死者为下殇”；12～15岁死者为中殇”；16～19岁死者为上殇”。
但男子已订婚，女子已许嫁者则不为殇”。
青壮年死者谓之夭亡”，但于讣告上均写疾终”，引魂幡、《荐亡文疏》上均写云终”、告终”。
老年死者谓之寿终”。
如系家族最高长辈，男加正寝”，女加内寝”字样。
故后世正寝”二字已成为死的代名词。
(三)根据人的死因。
为某种事情舍命者谓之殉”，如为职责因公而死谓之殉职”；战争中死于阵地者谓之阵亡”，现作牺牲”。
死于外地谓之客死”。
死于非命谓之凶死”等等。
(四)根据人的宗教信仰⊥尚死谓之圆寂”、示寂”；喇嘛死谓之涅盘”；道士死谓之羽化”；基督教教徒死谓之归主”；回民伊斯兰教教徒死谓之无常”等等。
(五)民间对死的敬称(礼貌用语)。
有借道家的仙逝”、返真”、登遐”者；有引用阴阳家就本”、星殒”者；一般称人死为辞世”(与世长辞)、过世”、去世”、逝世”，作古”；在吊唁时见之于书面的一律称千古”；灵牌、引魂幡上一律写已故”。
(六)北京民间土语、俏皮话(非礼貌用语)称死者有不同说法。
如见阎王爷去了”；撂挑子了(言已放下人生重担)”，听蛐蛐儿叫唤去了(言已人土与秋虫为伴了)”，嗝儿屁着凉了”、翘辫子”、踹腿”、蹬腿儿”等等。
但多具有贬义，不能用在丧礼和其他正式场合上。
