实践工作Work and Travel USA项目为参与学生提供遍布全美二十个州、城市和郊区的多元化的工作场所。这些工作都是充满乐趣并且简单易操作的入门级工作，目的是让参与学生在最短时间内就能上手实践。同时，此类工作的大多是暑假旅游季节性的工作，让学生有很多同游客和工作伙伴直面交流和接触的机会。

以往每年的工作场所例如有：纽约州六旗大逃亡游乐场；内华达州哈氏娱乐世界；加州Yosemite优胜美地国家公园，Oakland国际机场，洛杉矶国际机场HMSHost餐厅；密苏里州六旗圣路易斯乐园，Silver Dollar City乐园；犹他州Zion国

家公园；北达科塔州Theodore Roosevelt Medora公园；伊利诺州芝加哥O’Hare机场HMSHost餐厅；怀俄明州黄石国家公园；亚利桑纳州大峡谷国家公园；阿拉斯加州希尔顿Anchorage酒店等。

实习职位例如有：收银，售票员，机动游戏操作员，公园服务生，救生员，餐厅侍应和清洁，房间服务助理，酒店前台，厨房事务助理，食物供应，管家，销售助理等。分配职位时按学生的英文水平区分，并据实际工作表现可做调整。

实习学生享受的是同美国同事同工同酬的待遇，并享有其他福利（政府要求的基本医疗和意外保险等）按照联邦政府的最低工资规定：2009年7月24日之前，大约是每小时6.55美金，之后则提高至7.25美金。另外，对于接收小费类工作，每小时至少有2~3美金小费。学生每天的工作时间是7~8小时，每周工作5~6天，这样计算每周总计35~40小时，每周收入至少为250~300美金。住宿费用根据所处区域的不同大约20~100每周，饮食按个人的喜好，大约每周花费25～100美金。所以，按照过往其他国家参与学生的经验，每周至少有50美金的盈余可用于旅行等其它个人开支。

一般情况下，美国雇主每2周支付薪酬，学生收到第一份薪酬可能要在到达美国3~4周以后，取决于学生开始工作和获取Social Security Card(社会安全卡)的时间。所以，我们建议学生至少携带额外1000美金以支付一开始的住房等日常费用。实践时间根据中国高校的一般暑假时间，学生实习时间一般是10周，从6月中下旬开始至9月中旬。

什么是 Summer Work & Travel?

Summer Work & Travel USA基于美国政府于1948年通过的信息及教育交流法案（Smith-Mundt Act），该法案为交流访问项目建立了基本框架。此法案于1961年被纳入并扩展为教育及文化平等交流法案（Fulbright-Hayes Act）。项目在已经在欧洲、美洲及亚洲其他国家和地区成功运作了30余年，每年约有十五万来自世界各国的学生利用他们的暑假，持J-1签证进入美国企业进行为期3—4个月的短期社会实践，并利用实践之余的时间，在美境内旅游或实地体验美国生活、了解美国风土人情。

项目的特点在于为全世界大学生提供了一个踏上美国国土、体验美国生活文化、提高英语能力、进入美国企业与美国同事以及与来自其他国家学生并肩工作的机会。项目全程接受美国政府监管，并享有医疗及意外保险。每个参加项目的学生以合法纳税人的身份在美国企业进行社会实践，与美国同事同工同酬。这给予学生全面提高综合能力的锻炼机会，同时也减轻赴美学生的经济负担。

窗外的风景，我看不下去了。

这时我灵魂深处出现了两个声音。一个说：“这是司机的错，你应该投诉他!”另一个说：“可是，你每天都搭这部车，万一司机知道了报复是很容易的哦!况且，那位老人与你没有任何关系，你也太多管闲事了吧?”可马上第一个又说：“这虽然是件小事，但是如果没有人站出来指出他的错，那么他就可能一直这样下去的。如果有一天自己受到老人的‘待遇’呢?”

我终于在下车之后拨打了投诉电话。后来那位司机的态度真的变好了些。也许，在别人心中，这只是一件非常小的事，我却一直为自己的行为感到高兴，毕竟我的行动使社会变得美好了一点。

美，是人生的一种追求，然而，我往往陷入这样一个怪圈：在追求美的时候，并不知道真正的美在哪里，对早该注意的美倒是熟视无睹。

我从小对画画兴趣很大，美术成绩一直不错。上中学后，我更是把每一幅画画得尽善尽美，但老师似乎总不满意，给的分也总是5分。

她，和我形影不离。自从与她相识以来，我便认定她是美的化身……

56、母爱，三月的阳光

人生旅途漫漫，我把生活诠释成一段孤独的流浪，通向梦想的大道旁驿站不断，我却不愿停步，期待一份轰轰烈烈，一份举世无双，直至精疲力尽，

59、烧蚁球

孩童时的我们，真的是每天都在寻找着刺激。

这不，那些家伙又不知要拉我到哪里捣蛋了。

正在稻草堆玩得起劲的时候，看到一群蚂蚁悠悠哉哉地抬着一只蜻蜓向一个凸起的土堆走去。“我们捣它的老巢去，”阿彬灵机一动，又是个捣蛋的好机会!于是伙伴们把衣服一扔就拨开了泥土，只见不大的洞穴里，满是一群忙碌的蚂蚁。也许是被这突如其来的灾难吓坏了，便纷纷地各自向四处散去。?

“快拿稻草，将他们拦住!”不知是谁喊了一声，一大堆稻草便围了蚁巢整整一圈。我正有点纳闷的时候，旁边的阿文对我说：“快点火啊!”我愣了一下，但很快就拿出打火机点了起来，干燥的稻草加上强力的东风，很快就形成了一片火海，我们在一旁兴奋地叫着：“烧死你们!烧死你们!”我看了一眼蚁穴，突然发现那些蚂蚁都改变了方式，又从稻草边缘各自向着中央聚拢，很快地形成了一个拳头大小的球，过了一会儿，借着火苗就变得越来越大了。我们正在想着蚂蚁能炙烤多久的时候，发现黑球不断地向外滚去，直向我们逼压过来，还似乎在咆哮着。?

同伴们还都在一旁尖叫着，围着的稻草很快就烧完了，缕缕白烟还在不时地冒着。不多时，那黑黑的蚁球在动了，我甚至听到了外层蚂蚁被焚烧的声音，还有那股焦味。但是黑球很快就裂开了，从里面爬出很多活着的蚂蚁，然后又迅速地往各方向逃去，真是大难不死啊!

大伙儿都呆住了，似乎在观赏一幅旷世稀有的油画，空气似乎也凝固了。

过了一天，我又去看它。它依然不肯喝牛奶。于是我拿起牛奶对它说：“没事的，小狗狗，乖，我不会害你的。不信，我喝给你看。”小狗很认真地盯着我喝牛奶的样子，还不停地用两只前脚在地上刨着。过了好一会儿，它才怯生生地走过去喝牛奶。觉得没事后，才津津有味地喝了起来。看着它可爱的样子，我欣慰地笑了。

看见它终于肯吃东西了，我和爸爸决定给它做一个“家”。我们用棉布和竹篮给它做了一个安稳的“家”，还在里面放上了玩具。我还给它取了一个非常好听的名字“沙沙”。

渐渐地，我和沙沙结下了深厚的感情，我们也淡忘了它腿上的伤。

2008年5月12日下午2:28,我和其他同学如平常一样,坐在教室上课。

突然，一阵剧烈的晃动,天旋地转,我还没意识到发生了什么。讲台上的老师大叫一声“地震了,同学们快跑!”这是老师对生的呼唤,所有人立刻像潮水一样冲出教室。整座教学楼开始崩塌,瓦片、砖头，纷纷落下。

老师在讲台前冷静地指挥着。我在房屋倒塌之前没能逃出去,也亲眼看着老师倒在了讲台下。

周围如此沉寂，我的同学呢,我的老师呢?

“救命……”我歇斯底里的呼喊，这是我对生的呼唤,但外面如此沉寂,没有一丝动静。回答我的只是“救命”的回音。我绝望地闭了眼，静静地等待着……——也许他们就在外面，也许他们正在靠近我的身旁。

来到新的学校，一切的一切都显得是那么的新鲜，学校里的人多得像赶集似的。校门口停满了小轿车、面包车和各式各样的摩托车。爸把他辆破“凤凰”倚靠在一棵小树上，也没上锁，扛着铺盖卷，走过拥挤的人群。我紧跟着爸，生怕走散了。我周围都是大人，费了好大的力气才挤了过去。爸帮我找到宿舍，挑了挨着窗户的一个床铺，爸说这儿阳光好，不潮，冬天暖和。至于其它安慰之类的话一句也没说，放下铺盖卷，转身就走。“爸!”我大声喊了一声，爸转过身来，“啥事?”我望着爸爸没吱声，只是苦笑了一下，转身又走了。我强忍着泪水，自己上收拾床铺。看着别的家长帮着孩子铺被褥，整理东西，我的泪刷地流了下来，但我马上擦干了泪水。爸说过，农村的孩子更需要坚强。

以后，学校每次放假，我都是自己回家，有时坐车，有时步行。回家以后，自己生火做饭，并拾掇房间，然后边看书边等着爸爸、妈妈、小弟回来，这是多年来养成的习惯，从未改变过。

光阴荏苒，一晃就是三年。今天就要中考了，早上五点钟我就起了床。妈妈昨晚去厂里干活还没回来，爸爸已早早地去干活了。我自己做熟饭，饭后，坐车去考场。就在我将要走过考场的大门时，一个熟悉的身影突然出现在我的视野中。万万没有想到，是爸爸，爸爸还是骑着他那辆破“凤凰”来了。顿时，一股怦然心动的感觉流遍我的全身，我的泪水再也止不住了，一个劲儿地在眼里直打转。“爸，你怎么也来了，误一天工十几块钱呢!”“农活再忙，你一个人考试，我不放心，快进去吧，一回儿就考试了，爸在外边等着你。”
