一般情况下，美国雇主每2周支付薪酬，学生收到第一份薪酬可能要在到达美国3~4周以后，取决于学生开始工作和获取Social Security Card(社会安全卡)的时间。所以，我们建议学生至少携带额外1000美金以支付一开始的住房等日常费用。实践时间根据中国高校的一般暑假时间，学生实习时间一般是10周，从6月中下旬开始至9月中旬。

什么是 Summer Work & Travel?

从小爸爸、妈妈就教育我要勤俭节约，不要乱花钱，所以，我养成了勤俭节约的良好习惯。记得有一次，我和同学小朱去逛街。当我们走进一家服装店时，我第一眼就看到了一件漂亮的白色羽绒服，帽子上还有一个毛绒绒的小球，煞是好看。我惊喜地走到那件羽绒服旁，仔细地看了又看，正好是我喜欢的类型。我一边轻轻地抚摸着衣服，一边啧啧称赞道：“漂亮，就是漂亮！”小朱看到我这么喜欢这件衣服，便笑着说：“你穿这件衣服一定很好看，既然那么喜欢，就买了它吧！”听了小朱的话，我翻看了一下价格， “哇哦，真贵呀，两百多块呢！”我吓得跳了起来，连忙摆摆手，“不不不，还是不要了吧！”“哎呀，你家又不是没有那几个钱，叫你爸爸妈妈给呀！”这时，我耳边响起了爸爸、妈妈曾经对我说过的话：“勤俭节约是中华民族的传统美德，我们要以勤俭节约为荣。”脑海中浮现出了爸爸、妈妈平时勤俭节约的画面，我斩钉截铁的说：“是，我家是不缺那几个钱。但是，我爸爸、妈妈从小就教我要勤俭节约，所以，我不会买这件衣服的。我现在也不缺衣服穿，我要买学习用品！”小朱看我态度这样坚定，沉默了，一言不发。“小朱，我们应该从小学会勤俭节约呀。爸爸、妈妈挣钱也不容易。”我诚恳地对小朱说。小朱听了，很不好意思地低下了头，说道：“嗯，我懂了。小秦，谢谢你的提醒！我今后一定不乱花钱了。”看到小朱这样明白事理，我心里像吃了蜜糖那样甜。

记得还在我五岁的时候，我可是个“好吃嘴”。妈妈每天都会给我五角钱，我每次一拿到钱，心就飞到小卖部去了，把钱用完了，我往往又会去找妈妈要，然而妈妈却不给，我给妈妈端茶送水的讨好她，却还是没能如愿，那时候感觉妈妈很小气，明明自己那么多钱，却不愿意给我一点。
然而有一次，我从门缝里看见这样的一幕:妈妈把一个精致的小盒子放在衣柜上。出于好奇，等妈妈出来的时候，我立刻藏了起来，见妈妈进了厨房后，我马上跑到房间里，我的心都提到嗓子眼儿上了，终于，站上板凳，我如愿以偿地拿到了那个神秘的盒子，并轻轻的打开了它，而看到里面的东西时我的眼睛都瞪直了，钱！好多的零钱，我偷偷的拿了一元钱，又把盒子，小心地放了回去。，心想妈妈应该不会发现。下午我出了门，妈妈就叫住我，给我讲了一个故事:有一个小女孩，他的妈妈每天给她零花钱，虽然零花钱很少，但是小女孩并没有存着。而是立马用了，还偷了他妈妈的钱，你觉得他做的对吗？
我被妈妈说的越来越心虚，妈妈的眼睛好似可以看穿一切，我手心里握着的钱也被我的汗水浸湿了，我小声地说:“她，她做的不对……”妈妈摸摸我的头，我的脸顿时烧了起来，羞愧的低下了头，眼泪不争气的流了下来。当着妈妈的面去吧盒子拿了过来。把早已湿透的一元钱放了进去，我不敢抬头直视妈妈的眼睛，从此，妈妈每天给的五角钱，我都会存着，不会乱花。

一天，他去集市上买东西，看见了一个卖老花镜的摊位，突然想起自己的老花镜坏了，正好换一副。于是他在摊位上挑了一副，就向老板询问眼镜的价格，老板说：“50元！”外公向他讨价还价了一番，最后老板对他说：“一口价，35元！”外公没有零钱，给了老板一张100元，老板找给了外公70元零钱。外公清点过后发现老板多找给他钱了，于是又从里面抽出了一张5元钱递给了老板，说道：“你找错钱了，多给了我5元！”老板看着外公笑着说：“老爷子，头一次见有您这样的，找多了钱还退给我！”外公也笑了，说：“咱们说好了嘛！诚信很重要。”
还有一次，外公去买豆腐，因为着急给我做饭，匆忙间拿着找的零钱回家了，后来发现人家多找了1元钱，外婆说：“就1元钱，还不够折腾呢！别去了。”外公一脸严肃的说：“说好了多少钱就应该给人家多少钱，人家疏忽找错了钱，我们不应该不讲诚信，一定要送回去！”吃完饭后他又穿好衣服给人家把钱送了回去。
外公用自己的实际行动教育了我，让我受益匪浅。我爱我的家，我一定会把家风好好的传承下去，做一个讲诚信的人。
