相关背景基于美国政府于1948年立法通过的<信息及教育交流法案（smith-mundt>以及1961年修订的<教育文化相互交流法案
（Fulbright-Hayes Act）>，Work and Travel USA项目是旨在促进国际文化交流加强各国大学生交流的官方项目。并且，这也是一个由美国国务院监督管理并且已经在欧洲，韩国，日本，新加坡等全球数百个国家成熟开展40多年的文化交流项目，拥有一整套具体详尽的操作规范以确保学生参与者的安全和利益。

实践工作Work and Travel USA项目为参与学生提供遍布全美二十个州、城市和郊区的多元化的工作场所。这些工作都是充满乐趣并且简单易操作的入门级工作，目的是让参与学生在最短时间内就能上手实践。同时，此类工作的大多是暑假旅游季节性的工作，让学生有很多同游客和工作伙伴直面交流和接触的机会。
以往每年的工作场所例如有：纽约州六旗大逃亡游乐场；内华达州哈氏娱乐世界；加州Yosemite优胜美地国家公园，Oakland国际机场，洛杉矶国际机场HMSHost餐厅；密苏里州六旗圣路易斯乐园，Silver Dollar City乐园；犹他州Zion国
家公园；北达科塔州Theodore Roosevelt Medora公园；伊利诺州芝加哥O’Hare机场HMSHost餐厅；怀俄明州黄石国家公园；亚利桑纳州大峡谷国家公园；阿拉斯加州希尔顿Anchorage酒店等。
实习职位例如有：收银，售票员，机动游戏操作员，公园服务生，救生员，餐厅侍应和清洁，房间服务助理，酒店前台，厨房事务助理，食物供应，管家，销售助理等。分配职位时按学生的英文水平区分，并据实际工作表现可做调整。
实习学生享受的是同美国同事同工同酬的待遇，并享有其他福利（政府要求的基本医疗和意外保险等）按照联邦政府的最低工资规定：2009年7月24日之前，大约是每小时6.55美金，之后则提高至7.25美金。另外，对于接收小费类工作，每小时至少有2~3美金小费。学生每天的工作时间是7~8小时，每周工作5~6天，这样计算每周总计35~40小时，每周收入至少为250~300美金。住宿费用根据所处区域的不同大约20~100每周，饮食按个人的喜好，大约每周花费25～100美金。所以，按照过往其他国家参与学生的经验，每周至少有50美金的盈余可用于旅行等其它个人开支。
一般情况下，美国雇主每2周支付薪酬，学生收到第一份薪酬可能要在到达美国3~4周以后，取决于学生开始工作和获取Social Security Card(社会安全卡)的时间。所以，我们建议学生至少携带额外1000美金以支付一开始的住房等日常费用。实践时间根据中国高校的一般暑假时间，学生实习时间一般是10周，从6月中下旬开始至9月中旬。

资格要求
––年龄介于18至30周岁；

面试的目的在于评估您的英语水平，沟通能力、独立生活能力等，以确认学生的

什么是 Summer Work & Travel?
Summer Work & Travel USA基于美国政府于1948年通过的信息及教育交流法案（Smith-Mundt Act），该法案为交流访问项目建立了基本框架。 此法案于1961年被纳入并扩展为教育及文化平等交流法案（Fulbright-Hayes Act）。项目在已经在欧洲、美洲及亚洲其他国家和地区成功运作了30余年，每年约有十五万来自世界各国的学生利用他们的暑假，持J-1签证进入美国企业进行为期3—4个月的短期社会实践，并利用实践之余的时间，在美境内旅游或实地体验美国生活、了解美国风土人情。
项目的特点在于为全世界大学生提供了一个踏上美国国土、体验美国生活文化、提高英语能力、进入美国企业与美国同事以及与来自其他国家学生并肩工作的机会。项目全程接受美国政府监管，并享有医疗及意外保险。每个参加项目的学生以合法纳税人的身份在美国企业进行社会实践，与美国同事同工同酬。这给予学生全面提高综合能力的锻炼机会，同时也减轻赴美学生的经济负担。

其实每个人都一样，在我们的记忆里，或多或少总有一些难忘的人或事，偶尔回荡心间，久久不能平静。有些事我们终生难忘。
饭对大人来说非常容易，可对我们却非常难，我问妈妈做饭怎么做，她问我：“你想学什么？要不先学蛋炒饭吧！”我用力的点点头，妈妈取出两个光滑的鸡蛋，取出一个碗，让我先把鸡蛋打碎，因为用力大。鸡蛋已经弄一手，一旁的表弟笑的上气不接下气，我狠狠的瞪了他一眼，又开始做了，我这次打得鸡蛋完美极了，我用筷子的均匀了，妈妈说切一些菜会更好吃。我一边切一边想太好了，呀，好痛啊，看着看着我切烂了手指，自己都快哭出来了，妈妈帮我切了菜，我十分感谢妈妈，妈妈说放调料，我一勺勺的放，在我的努力之下一盘香喷喷的鸡蛋出来了，表弟一边吃一边说好吃，我尝了尝自己做的，心里美滋滋的，觉得自己都可以当大厨了。
一件小事，可以让人从黑暗中复活，一句话可以让人从光明回到黑暗，我觉得一个没有一件难忘的小事的人，什么都没有。

在我们的日常生活中，常常会有一些非常细微的、不会惹人注意的小事，它们总是被我们忽略，但却又让我们回味无穷……
一个阳光明媚的下午，我兴致勃勃地去书店买书。在车站旁等了好久才等到一辆挤满了人的公交车。唉，运气怎么这么差呢？算了，将就一下吧！好不容易挤上车，啊呀，这分明是一个活生生的沙丁鱼罐头嘛！过了几站，车上的人依然不比之前少。
这时有一个年轻妇女，抱着孩子，正要从前门走上车，只见司机突然对她说：“太挤了，你从后门上车吧。”她那刚踏上前门的脚立即又缩了回去，急匆匆从后面上车了。我望着她的背影，正想对司机说什么，但话到嘴边又咽回去了。又觉得事情是不可能像我想的那样。
车身不停地摇晃着，但我却若有所思，只是低着头站着，沉默着。又过了好几站，那个妇女似乎到站了，她从别人给她让的座位上慢悠悠地站起来，换了个抱孩子的姿势，坦然走下车去……
我心中一直默念着的想法猛然在我心中猛然炸开了——她，没有给钱！我突然有些好笑，对自己暗暗说道：只是一块钱罢了！但仍然心有余悸，我忍不住问自己，我这是怎么了？变得爱管闲事了？那个妇女已经走远了，难不成我再把她拉回来吗？
我依旧保持着沉默，反思着刚刚的一切。呵，这只是一件小事嘛！我努力说服着自己，心绪却急速地运转着，怎么也停不下来。
又过了一会儿，我也到站了。我恍恍惚惚地掏出一块硬币，再次投入钱币箱，继而恍恍惚惚地下了车……
踏进书店的那一刻，我却释然地笑了。

我的爱好有很多，比如：画画、看课外书、练字、玩耍、打篮球、游泳……其中，我最喜欢的是踢足球了，每个周末我都会和小伙伴们一起踢上一两场。
又到周末了，我抱着心爱的足球，和小伙伴们又一起到“赛场”地。比赛正式开始了，我们个个都显得威风凛凛，准备大显身手了。我首先来个猛踢，“进球了！”我们欢天喜地地叫起来。这次，对手也不甘示弱，来个飞球，幸亏我一跳，把球挡住了。队友看见了，他连忙从我脚下把球反踢了出去，谁知正中对手队员的肚子，他当场就“哇，哇……”哭了起来。队员飞快地跑过去向他道歉，大伙儿也都围了过来。过了片刻，或许是对手真的不痛了，或许是要对手感动了，我们的足球赛一如既往地进行下去……
比赛结束了，虽然足球赛中出了一件小事，可它却令了感动不已，因为，我体会到了大伙儿都有一颗友爱之心，体会到了朋友之间的友谊。这件小事，我将铭记在心。

“妈妈，我学会了，我学会了!”我高兴得差点儿又从车子上又摔下来。
小时候，我梦想着有一辆自己的自行车，却总是被“自行车太贵”、“你太小”、“你不会骑”等各种理由拒绝了，直到前一段时间，我的梦想才成真。买完车子回家，我高兴地不得了，只知道坐在沙发上傻笑，妈妈见了时不时摸摸我的头，然后自言自语地说道：“不对啊，没发烧呀!”第二天，我搬着心爱的自行车下楼了。看着有的人都能倒着骑车子或不扶把骑车子挺羡慕别人的，可是也得下功夫。我跨上车子，让妈妈扶着我，慢慢地往前骑。没多一会儿，我和妈妈的额头上都出现了一颗颗珍珠，只是“种类”不一样——妈妈头上的是热汗;我头上的时下出来的冷汗。为了让自己休息一会儿妈妈把坐姿往下调了调，我的脚就可以处到地面了。刚开始，我是学一只脚蹬地，另一只脚蹬脚踏板，可是总也学不会，倒是摔得我身上青一块，紫一块，买车子时的高兴劲儿也给摔倒了九霄云外。可是如果买了车子不骑，在家放着，还不如不买，没办法，还得接着练。
“第一套方案不行，明天我要换另一套方案”。我一边把车子往楼上搬，一边不服气地说。新的一天开始了，我起了个大早就去练骑车了。这次方法不同——我直接上车。还是我发明的新方法好，没一会儿我就可以骑一段路了。经过我的努力奋战，没多长时间，我就得到了自己的“成功之果”——学会了骑车。我一高兴，脚一蹬，连人带车做了个一百八十度的“杂技”动作，后果可想而知。可是我并没有哭，而是开心地笑了，因为我学会了骑车子。

咚!咚!咚!重重的敲门声吓了我一跳，是谁啊?这么晚了还闲不住。我边想边打开门
原来是邻居小李叔叔。“就你一个人?”我点点头，“叔叔请……”“进”字还没出口，他已大步流星闯进了屋里，一屁股砸在沙发上，沙发发出一阵支支的呻吟声。看着李叔叔那肥胖的身躯，我真为沙发的命运担忧。
“李叔叔抽烟。”我拿出家里招待客人的最好的香烟，递给他。他努努嘴，说：“你这是什么烟，看我的!”他随手拿了一盒甩在茶几上，看到那精美包装上的几行英文字HILTON，我认出是希尔顿。两盒烟相比，我手里的就显得逊色了。
“听说你念书不错，叔叔今天有事，请你帮忙，事成有赏!”李叔叔一边上下打量我家的摆设，一边大声说：“这几年买卖忙，顾不上回家看爹妈，你给我爹妈写封信。我说你写。”我赶忙拿出纸笔做好准备。“父母二老，如信如面，儿买卖事业，兴隆发财，一路顺风……”李叔叔断断续续，结结巴巴地说着，语法用词错误百出，我实在写不下去了。小声打断他的思路指出已些不妥之处，李叔叔脸红了，可瞬间又恢复了平静，扯着嗓门说：“你就不用听我说了，自己写吧!”
我三下五除二，很快写好了信，念给他听。“不错，不错。”他大声称赞着，收起写好的信，一张五十元的钞票送到了我的手里，我执意不要，可能是他担心我父母快回来了。便收起钱走了。
看着他的背影，笔挺的西装，光亮的皮鞋。我茫然了：漂亮的外表里究竟装了些什么呢?”
想到他家中那时髦的家具，全套的高档电器。我曾经羡慕过。可此时，我想的更多的是他家中时常传出的粗俗的叫骂声，喝酒划拳的吵闹声，打麻将发出的噪杂声。
看着眼前，我家中的摆设虽然陈旧，长长的书柜虽然简陋，可那一排排的书，错落有致，却是充实的。父母虽说有时候不在家，我一个人在家中，又这些书的陪伴，我并不寂寞。
与邻居相比，到底谁更贫穷，谁更富有，我一下子有了新的见解。

“谁啊？”我问道。
“701室吗？送水果的。”一个带有外地口音的人回答道。原来妈妈订的水果到了，我打开了大门。
可过了五分钟，送水果的人还没有上来，我想：也许是楼下大门坏了吧。于是我就准备下楼为他开门。刚要下去，看到一位年近六十的.老人正在敲我家楼梯的防盗门，只见他左胳膊夹着一箱猕猴桃，右手提着一大篮沉沉的橙子，气喘吁吁，汗流浃背。我感到十分好笑，问道：“你为什么不坐电梯呢？”老爷爷说：“咋？你们还有电梯？俺不知道哎！”我家的电梯明明一进大门就能看到，可他为什么没有看到呢？我笑得差点连眼泪水也掉出来了。签完字后，我让老爷爷坐电梯下去。
马上，我把这件事当作了笑料，看见我认识的人，我就把这件事当作我的“笑话”告诉他们。大家也为这件事觉得好笑，只有妈妈听后神情严肃，耐心地教导了我。妈妈启发我：“你有没有站在老爷爷的立场考虑这件事呢？
我陷入了深思，想到当时老爷爷汗流浃背、气喘吁吁的跑上7楼，只是为了那一丢丢的运送费，也许不值5块钱；想到老爷爷每天拼命的工作，累得居然连电梯也没有看见，也许只是为了快一点下班，与家人团聚。我为我的行为感到羞愧。

“琪琪！”我转向我的同桌兼死党的李若琪，“老师说要交什么钱啊？”“你不知道吗？”她回答道，“老师昨天说让明天每人交30元钱报名费，参加‘走美’，你忘带钱了吗？”我点了点头，算是回答。
我没带钱，现在上哪找钱？我急得像热锅上的蚂蚁，怎么会想都想不起来师说让今天带钱的事。可是没带钱就不能报名，这该怎么办呀！我焦急的向同学借了手机跑到楼道里给我妈打电话，可是怎么打怎么都没人接，我急的直跺脚。要知道数学李老师可是相当的严啊，全年级没有一个不怕他的，平时忘带三角板就能让你站到后面，谁知道这次忘了带钱李老师会怎么罚我。我越想越着急，手心里都捏出了汗，真恨不得锤几下自己的脑袋：怎么就记不住事呢！
就在我急的不知所措时，我感觉有人正站在我后面，我猛的一转头，看见李若琪正笑眯眯地看着我，我白了她一眼，说道：“人家正有难呢！你还好意思笑！”“哼！人家可是好心好意地来‘救你’你的，你却还说我！”她把嘴一嘟说道。“你用什么来‘救我’啊！”“喏，这个钱给你。”她边说边往我手里塞东西。我一看，正好三十块钱。我攥着这三十块钱，心里很不平静。我想起上次上写字课时她管我借钢笔，我却没有借给她。想到这我心里一阵惭愧。“你哪来的钱啊？”我边说边把她的手给退了回去。“我妈给我吃晚饭的钱！你先拿着交给老师。”说完，把钱塞到我手里转身就要走。

我特别喜欢《论语》中的一句话：“与朋友交，言而有信”。意思是说：与朋友交往，要讲诚信，讲信用。因此，我把这句话当作我的座右铭。在日常生活中，我时刻注意这一点，真心对待每一位我的好朋友，不食言，不失信，做一个诚信的人。
记得有一次，我的好朋友乐乐约我去新华书店看书，当时我爽快地答应了。我们约定好下午2点在新华书店门口见面。没想到，下午天空却下起了雨。望着窗外的倾盆大雨，我心想：雨这么大，还是不去了吧，或许她也不会去。可是，万一她去了，我却没去，那她肯定会很生气，怪我不讲信用，以后就不和我玩了。到底是去还是不去呢？我犹豫不绝。这时这，我突然想起了爸爸经常教育我的一句话：“与朋友交，言而有信。”我的心中顿时有了一个决定：去！不管雨有多大，我一定要去！我不能失去朋友，更不能失去信用！
我把这件事跟妈妈说了一遍，妈妈二话不说，就骑着电动车冒雨把我带到了新华书店。到了那里，我却没发现好朋友乐乐的身影。我拿出手表一看，离约定的时间还差十分钟。于是，我耐心地在书店门口等着，时不时还向四周张望，希望能看见乐乐。时间一分一秒地过去，2点到了，然而乐乐并未出现。此时我的心中有些不悦，心想：早知道她不来，我就不冒着这么大雨过来了，害我白跑一趟。我对妈妈说：“我们走吧，我不想再等下去了。”妈妈却笑着对我说：“我们再等5分钟看看，或许她过会就来。”果不其然，没过一会儿，远方渐渐地出现了一个熟悉的身影。只见乐乐打着伞，快步地向我走来。见了面，她连忙对我说：“对不起，对不起！刚才由于心急摔了一跤，我回家换了一身衣服，所以迟到了，请你别生气。”听了她这番解释，原来想发火的我慢慢露出了笑脸，牵着她的手说：“没关系，咱们进去看书吧！”
回去的时候，雨停了。我们手拉手走在路上，有说有笑，彼此之间的友谊更近了一些。
通过这件小事，使我对“与朋友交，言而有信”有了更深的理解。更让我知道了守诚信的重要性。今后，我一定会做一个言而有信的人。
