With age comes experience and with experience comes knowledge and understanding. No oneindividual is ever completed with his or her growth. For the wisest of all men has death to face. And with death imminent for all, one will still have to face fear till the very end of one'sexistence. So to take what one learns through life and to press on towards the goals set willone begin to face new, challenging, and sometimes even exciting new fears. Life will nevercomplete itself until one has completed the life he is given. Therefore it is incrediblyirresponsible to merely accept death as the imminent future, settle into a comfort zonenaught of challenge, and to merely exist. Could a better definition of waste be drawn?
It is each and everyone's responsibility to konw who he is. And it is, therefore, each andeveryone's responsibility to take what he has as genetic tools to better his life and to betterthe lives of others. For if all accepted individuality and accepted the individuality of others, then all would have the sympathy for one another.
This is harmony; the ideal nature of life by which life is then lived. To live in harmony withone another is but a simple step forward in one's thinking.
Once one has recognized one's individuality, accepted one's fears, and chosen to set goalsand move foward with the important aid of hope, will one have truly conquered living life.
About ten years ago when I was an undergraduate in college, I was working as an intern at myUniversity's Museum of Natural History. One day while working at the cash register in the giftshop, I saw an elderly couple come in with a little girl in a wheelchair.
As I looked closer at this girl, I saw that she was kind of perched on her chair. I then realizedshe had no arms or legs, just a head, neck and torso. She was wearing a little white dress withred polka dots.
As the couple wheeled her up to me I was looking down at the register. I turned my headtoward the girl and gave her a wink. As I took the money from her grandparents, I looked backat the girl, who was giving me the cutest, largest smile I have ever seen.
All of a sudden her handicap was gone and all I saw was this beautiful girl, whose smile justmelted me and almost instantly gave me a completely new sense of what life is all about. Shetook me from a poor, unhappy college student and brought me into her world; a world ofsmiles, love and warmth.
That was ten years ago. I'm a successful business person now and whenever I get down andthink about the troubles of the world, I think about that little girl and the remarkable lessonabout life that she taught me.
I saw a lady in the subway station today.
She was quarreling with the security guard, because she was not willing to put her handbag into the security inspector.
"It's expensive!" she shouted, "The machine's gonna scratch it!"
I noticed the logo on that handbag when I passed by.
Yeah, it was of a luxury brand and looked quite new.
And judging from the lady's reaction, I guess it's authentic.
But if you check out the lady's other items and her behavior, it not so difficult to see that her income may not be very high.
So it's highly probable that the handbag really cost her a fortune, maybe the money she saved from her every meal.
And apparently it was also costing her this precious commuting time and at the same time her good mood.
"Sad." I thought.
My mother once told me: "Never buy anything that you can't really afford to use."
It's not only about money. It's about everything that you give up for it.
I'm totally happy with my handbag that I bought online. It's not expensive. It's not of any luxury brand. But it's of great quality and designed in just the way I like it.
That's enough.
When you buy things to use, you own the things.
When you buy things to worship, they own you.
And I don't want to pay to be a slave.

Man's youth is a wonderful thing: it is so full of anguish and of magic and he never comes to know it as it is, until it has gone from him forever. It is the thing he cannot bear to lose, it is the thing whose passing he watches with infinite sorrow and regret, it is the thing whose loss with a sad and secret joy, the thing he would never willingly relive again, could it be restored to him by any magic.
Why is this? The reason is that the strange and bitter miracle of life is nowhere else so evident as in our youth. And what is the essence of that strange and bitter miracle of life which we feel so poignant , so unutterable, with such a bitter pain and joy, when we are young? It is this: that being rich, we are so poor; that being mighty, we can yet have nothing; that seeing, breathig, smelling, tasting all around us the impossible wealth and glory of this earth, feeling with an intolerable certitude that the whole structure of the enchanted life – the most fortunate, wealthy, good, and happy life that any man has ever known – is ours – is ours at once, immediately and forever, the moment that we choose to take a step, or stretch a hand, or say a word—— we yet know that we can really keep, hold, take, and possess forever—— nothing. All passes; nothing lasts: the moment that we put our hand upon it , it melts away like smoke, is gone forever, and the snake is eating at our heart again; we see then what we are and what our lives must come to.
Youth is not a time of life; it is a state of mind; it is not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees; it is a matter of the will, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life.
Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over the love of ease.
This often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20. Nobody grows old merely by a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals.
Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul. Worry, fear, self-distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust.
Whether 60 or 16, there is in every human being’s heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing appetite for what’s next and the joy of the game of living.
In the center of your heart and my heart, there is a wireless station; so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, courage and power from man and from the infinite, so long as you are young.
When your aerials are down, and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you’ve grown old, even at 20; but as long as your aerials are up, to catch waves of optimism, there’s hope you may die young at 80.

When Love Beckons You
When love beckons to you, follow him, though his ways are hard and steep. And when his wings enfold you, yield to him, though the sword hidden among his pinions may wound you.
And when he speaks to you, believe in him, though his voice may shatter your dreams as the north wind lays waste the garden.
For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning.
Even as he ascends to your height and caresses your tenderest branches that quiver in the sun, so shall he descend to our roots and shake them in their clinging to the earth.
But if, in your fear, you would seek only love’s peace and love’s pleasure, then it is better for you that you cover your nakedness and pass out of love’s threshing-floor, into the seasonless world where you shall laugh, but not all of your laughter, and weep, but not all of your tears.
Love gives naught but it self and takes naught but from itself.
Love possesses not, nor would it be possessed, for love is sufficient unto love.
Love has no other desire but to fulfill itself. But if you love and must have desires, let these be your desires:
To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night.
To know the pain of too much tenderness.
To be wounded by your own understanding of love;
And to bleed willingly and joyfully.
To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving;
To rest at the noon hour and meditate love’s ecstasy;
To return home at eventide with gratitude;
And then to sleep with a payer for the beloved in your heart and a song of praise upon your lips.
被自己对爱的理解所伤害;
在黎明带着轻快的心醒来并感谢又一个有家的日子;
在黄昏怀着感恩之心回家;

Be Happy!
“The days that make us happy make us wise.”----John Masefield
when I first read this line by England’s Poet Laureate, it startled me. What did Masefield mean? Without thinking about it much, I had always assumed that the opposite was true.
But his sober assurance was arresting. I could not forget it.
Finally, I seemed to grasp his meaning and realized that here was a profound observation. The wisdom that happiness makes possible lies in clear perception, not fogged by anxiety nor dimmed by despair and boredom, and without the blind spots caused by fear.
Active happiness---not mere satisfaction or contentment ---often comes suddenly, like an April shower or the unfolding of a bud.
Then you discover what kind of wisdom has accompanied it. The grass is greener; bird songs are sweeter; the shortcomings of your friends are more understandable and more forgivable.
Happiness is like a pair of eyeglasses correcting your spiritual vision.
Nor are the insights of happiness limited to what is near around you. Unhappy, with your thoughts turned in upon your emotional woes, your vision is cut short as though by a wall.
Happy, the wall crumbles.
The long vista is there for the seeing. The ground at your feet, the world about you----people, thoughts, emotions, pressures---are now fitted into the larger scene.
Everything assumes a fairer proportion. And here is the beginning of wisdom.
The Goodness of Life
Though there is much to be concerned about, there is far, far more for which to be thankful. Though life’s goodness can at times be overshadowed, it is never outweighed.
For every single act that is senselessly destructive, there are thousands more small, quiet acts of love, kindness and compassion.
For every person who seeks to hurt, there are many, many more who devote their lives to helping and to healing.
There is goodness to life that cannot be denied.
In the most magnificent vistas and in the smallest details, look closely, for that goodness always comes shining through.
There si no limit to the goodness of life. It grows more abundant with each new encounter. The more you experience and appreciate the goodness of life, the more there is to be lived.
Even when the cold winds blow and the world seems to be cov ered in foggy shadows, the goodness of life lives on. Open your eyes, open your heart, and you will see that goodness is everywhere.
Though the goodness of life seems at times to suffer setbacks, it always endures. For in the darkest moment it becomes vividly clear that life is a priceless treasure.
And so the goodness of life is made even stronger by the very things that would oppose it.
Time and time again when you feared it was gone forever you found that the goodness of life was really only a moment away.
Around the next corner, inside every moment, the goodness of life is there to surprise and delight you.
Take a moment to let the goodness of life touch your spirit and calm your thoughts. Then, share your good fortune with another.
For the goodness of life grows more and more magnificent each time it is given away.
Though the problems constantly scream for attention and the conflicts appear to rage ever stronger, the goodness of life grows stronger still, quietly, peacefully, with more purpose and meaning than ever before.
