在第一部《银河护卫队》中，格鲁特为了保护队友“牺牲”了，但是格鲁特的死其实很模糊~在影片最后长出了一个小树苗，这就是《银河护卫队》中的格鲁特宝宝。
导演James Gunn称格鲁特在第一部已经为了保护大家死去了，现在的小格鲁特很傻很天真，而且不会有格鲁特的记忆。
格鲁特宝宝不是第一部中的格鲁特，是一个全新的角色。

但是在结尾那一刻，他耗尽生命长出一个大刺球抱住大家的时候，忽然说了一句我们是格鲁特（We are groot）——那一刻，我的眼泪都留下来了。
很是难过——还好，到后面小树人长出来的时候，随着音乐舞蹈那一刻，我一瞬间笑喷了，感觉好有爱啊
