上来那个胖子是暴食，商人是贪婪，躺床上变干尸还活着那个是懒惰，妓女是淫欲，明星是骄傲，Mills是愤怒，John Doe自己是嫉妒。
是常见的有两个版本的结局，导演剪辑的结局是Mills最终杀了John Doe犯了愤怒，最终完成了七宗罪。
还有另一个供应把结局是William杀了John Doe，把机会留给了年轻的Mills。
至于Tracy我是这样看的，她的死不是任何一宗最，是一种途径。
整体看看本片，没有一个七宗罪的受害者是John Doe亲杀的，都是他利用某种途径来迫使这些人自取灭亡的（除了那个妓女，是被另个人杀死，但也不是John Doe亲手杀的），他们都死在了自己的罪孽之下。
而Tracy是John Doe亲手杀死的，她是个无辜的人，很不幸的Tracy又是整个杀人游戏不可缺少的一块拼图。
她是一个牺牲品，一种途径，最终能让让Mills最后犯下愤怒的罪行的工具。

而杀人只是他的手段。
他是可怜人，但同时也是幸福的。

天主教把人类的恶性分为7种原罪，分别是贪食、色欲、贪婪、暴怒、懒惰、自负及傲慢。
即为7宗罪。
影片中的杀手是一个极端的宗教的信仰者，感觉在现代社会的氛围下，人类的习性越来越背叛宗教的范畴，就是中国人经常说的：“世风日下，人心不古”的感觉。
所以John Doe为了代表自己心目中理解的宗教的纯洁来惩治世人，于是按照7宗罪的惩戒模式将他认为有罪的人一个个处决掉。
