蝙蝠侠 黑暗骑士里结尾小丑对蝙蝠侠说关于对哈维登特光明骑士的一段话
结合剧情来看，对谭市的市民来说，像哈维·登特这样的人是光明的化身，但哈维被小丑腐化成为了双面人，小丑的目的就是证明“像哈维这样的正义化身也是会堕落的”并且做到了，蝙蝠侠杀哈维一是为了救戈登的儿子在先，二是为了维护哈维这个光明骑士的形象并让民众继续对哥谭市心存希望，这样做总比曝光双面人的身份要强，黑暗骑士为了拯救城市而背了光明骑士的黑锅，也是突出了蝙蝠侠的形象。
对于不杀小丑的问题，蝙蝠侠虽然后来不得已把哈维推下去，但总体还是有个不杀人的原则的，蝙蝠侠不杀人其实是仍然要让民众相信法律的力量，这里要引用一下漫画中蝙蝠侠和小丑的关系：从某种意义上来讲蝙蝠侠和小丑其实是一类人，他们的目的都是希望摧毁彼此的精神，漫画中的小丑不断折磨蝙蝠侠所亲近的人试图摧毁蝙蝠侠的意志，蝙蝠侠也不断给阿卡姆疯人院投钱试图治愈小丑，但两个人就是谁也战胜不了谁，最后的结局只能是他们两个人继续争斗直到一个人彻底干掉另一个人。
