相濡以沫现在意思是比喻一同在困难的处境里，用微薄的力量互相帮助；而原来意思是相反的。
《庄子·大宗师》里的句子：“泉涸，鱼相与处于陆，相呴以湿，相濡以沫，不如相忘于江湖。
”意思是有一条泉水干了，两条鱼被困在里面，为了生存下去，它们彼此从嘴中吐出泡泡来湿润对方的身体，互相扶持，互相依赖。
与其在死亡边缘互相扶持，还不如各自找到一条水路，开开心心地回到广阔的江河湖海，回到各自的天地，彼此相忘，自由自在。
