We’ve got a chain that takes a great idea all the way through. We must be confirmed that, today, the challenges we face are real. They are serious they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But we will somehow find a way to overcome the difficulties. My major is XXX. My job is to discover or create new drugs for many diseases like cancer. You know that laboratory is the place where miracles happen. Believe it or not. What I do can save millions of people’s lives. 你现在报21世纪还来得及的 中国日报社“21世纪杯”全国英语演讲比赛由中国日报社主办、21世纪英文报系承办。
自1996年创办以来，大赛作为每年5月在英国伦敦举行的国际英语演讲比赛的中国区选拔赛，获胜者将代表中国在国际舞台上展示中国青年学子的风貌。
中央电视台知名双语节目主持人刘欣、芮成钢等均曾作为大赛获胜者参加国际比赛荣获大奖。
多年来，作为国内档次最高的英语学习竞赛，大赛已在北京、上海、广州等大陆主要城市及香港和澳门巡回举行，并得到国际权威英语教学和考试机构的大力支持和高度重视，英国国际英语联合会(ESU)、美国世界英语教师协会(TESOL)、美国教育考试服务中心(ETS)、英国大使馆文化教育处等都是大赛的长期合作伙伴。
同时，大赛还得到了国家相关部委、企事业单位、新闻媒体等社会各界的广泛关注和支持。
国家教育部、国务院新闻办公室、北京奥组委等机构均曾有领导亲临比赛现场，并为获奖选手颁奖。
第十六届中国日报社“21世纪杯”全国英语演讲比赛由中国日报社主办、21世纪英文报系承办、国际英语联合会、美国世界英语教师协会、美国教育考试服务中心、英国广播公司、澳大利亚语言中心、澳门理工学院、香港城市大学等机构协办。
为使更多在校大学生有机会参与比赛，第十六届中国日报社“21世纪杯”全国英语演讲比赛于2010年5月13日启动，面向全国高校本、专科在校学生举行。
本届比赛赛区划分如下：北京赛区、天津赛区、河北赛区、山西赛区、浙江赛区、上海赛区、四川赛区、重庆赛区、辽宁赛区、吉林赛区、黑龙江赛区、陕西赛区、福建赛区、广东赛区、广西赛区、湖南赛区、湖北赛区、河南赛区、山东赛区、江苏赛区、其他赛区(含除上述地区外的中国大陆所有其他省\\\/直辖市\\\/自治区)。
比赛全程将分三个阶段：(1)互联网选拔赛\\\/校园选拔赛(2010年5月-11月)；(2)地区决赛(2010年11月-12月)；(3)全国半决赛\\\/总决赛(2010年3月-4月)。
第一阶段：互联网选拔赛\\\/校园选拔赛 互联网选拔赛覆盖所有赛区。
在互联网选拔赛的基础上，大赛组委会在各赛区邀请一批不同类别的高校合作组织现场校园选拔赛，直接选拔部分选手进入地区决赛。
组织现场校园选拔赛的学校的选拔方式参见各校《校园选拔赛章程》，根据组委会要求组织现场校园选拔赛的学校每校至少有2名选手入围地区决赛。
以下为除组织校园选拔赛的学校以外的其他学校选手参与互联网选拔赛的程序： (一)参赛范围：国家承认的具有高等学历教育招生资格的普通高等学校在校本、专科学生均可报名参加，年龄、专业不限。
(二)比赛时间：比赛于2010年5月13日开始，各赛区互联网选拔赛结束时间详见大赛官方网站通知。
(三)参赛及选拔方式： 1.参赛方式：参赛选手登陆大赛官方网站，注册、提交作品并接受投票及评判。
2.作品要求：(1) 必选作品：参赛选手根据比赛演讲主题自拟题目完成一篇500字左右的演讲稿，并模拟现场演讲进行录像\\\/录音。
选手必须将演讲稿和演讲视\\\/音频文件上传到比赛官方网站。
(2) 可选作品：作为参考作品，参赛选手可自愿选择一段英文文学作品(如散文、诗歌、电影独白、影视配音等)进行朗诵并录像\\\/录音(限时3分钟)，并将朗诵视\\\/音频文件上传到比赛官方网站。
3.演讲主题：Growing up with the Internet: Who are we -- the Net Generation? (成长于互联网时代：我们是怎样的一代人
) 题解：上世纪90年代，互联网在全球兴起。
生于80年代末90年代初的当代大学生常被称为“90后”，他们的成长与互联网息息相关，被打上了这个时代的“烙印”。
作为信息时代的最先体验者，他们是热爱快餐文化、爱电脑甚于爱书报的一代，他们是听着日韩舞曲、追着超女快男成长的一代，他们是生活条件最为优越、缺乏挫折教育的一代。
有人说，这一代人桀骜不羁、思想肤浅、自我自负；可是也有人说，这一代人敢于探索、好奇心强，嘻哈的外表下有自己独立的思维认识和创新精神。
作为90后的一员，你怎样定义和你同龄的这一代人
请结合亲身经历加以阐述。
4.选拔方式：(1) 互联网选拔赛投票期内，参赛选手所在学校以该校获得网络投票数及短信投票数总和最多的选手的总票数为依据进行排名。
(2) 截至互联网选拔赛投票期结束时，排名靠前的学校将各有2名选手进入电话口试，其中1名为本校获网络投票数及短信投票数总和最多的选手，1名为组委会评委团评选出的互联网选拔赛选手。
各赛区的入围电话口试的学校数量将于投票期开始前在本赛区互联网选拔赛页面上公布。
(3) 互联网选拔赛投票期结束后，复活赛立即启动，持续4天，各赛区未入围电话口试的学校的参赛选手可通过吸引手机短信投票的方式参与复活赛。
学校排名以该校在复活赛期间获得短信投票数最多的选手的票数为依据。
复活赛截止时，复活赛区排名前3名的学校的各1名在复活赛期间获得短信投票数最多的选手(共3名)将以“短信人气复活王”的身份进入电话口试。
(4) 比赛合作单位推荐的各赛区最多6名优秀选手经大赛组委会确认可直接入围电话口试，但仍须上传演讲作品以供审查并获得网上演讲作品的分数。
(5) 电话口试阶段，大赛组委会将通过电话问答形式测试选手即席演讲水平并打分，同时大赛评委团将对入围电话口试的选手的网上演讲作品进行评分。
5.评判标准：(1) 网上演讲作品(必选作品)演讲内容占40%，语言质量占40%，综合印象占20%。
(2) 网上演讲作品与电话口试两个部分得分各占总分的50%。
6.奖励事项：网上演讲作品(必选作品)和电话口试综合得分排名靠前的选手入围地区决赛(限每校1名选手)。
