今天我演讲的题目是《英语的重要性》。
只会说家乡话,难以走出家门
只会说中国话,无法面对世界
所以,学好英语,迫在眉睫。
①英语是当今世界上主要的国际通用语言之一,也是世界上最广泛使用的语言。
据1986年的统计,世界上以英语为母语的人近4亿,差不多每十个人中就有一个人讲英语。
英国、美国、加拿大、澳大利亚、新西兰等国家的人都讲英语。
世界上约有20个国家把英语作为官方语言或第二语言使用,共计约有8亿人。
也就是说,世界上差不多每五个人中有一个人至少在一定程度上懂英语。
若加上世界各国中小学生学习英语的人数,懂英语的人就更多了。
英语已经成为当今世界数十个国家的官方语言,这些国家独占了全世界70%以上的财富 … … 不懂英语就意味着跟这70%的机会无缘。
另有一大批原本的非英语国家,如我们的近邻日本韩国,随着经济起飞,跟国际市场快速融合,英语早已普及化,大众化,大大改变了这些国家的语言使用面貌。
调查显示,在这些国家,英语水平跟个人社会地位等级明显成正比。
②英语的使用范围非常广泛。
世界上70%以上的邮件是用英文写或用英文写地址的。
全世界科技出版物 70% 以上用英语发表。
全世界的广播节目中,有60%是用英语进行的。
绝大部分的国际会议是以英语为第一通用语言(90% 以上的国际会议用英语召开),它也是联合国的正式工作语言之一。
总之,在国际政治、军事、经济、科技、文化、贸易、交通运输等领域,英语是一个重要的交际工具。
随着我国对外开放的不断扩大化,科学技术的不断进步,国际地位的不断提高,迫切需要造就一大批精通外语的专门人才,以加速我国“四化”进程,使我国在国际事务中发挥更大更积极的作用。
因此,学好英语对实现上述目标具有重要的现实意义和深远的历史意义。
我觉得英语是非常重要的,比如说:你来到了外国迷路了,或者要找人什么的,你不会英语,你就无法和别人问路或者交谈了。
英语的重要性是显而易见的:信息高速公路“互联网”信息近 80% 是由英语承载,许多技术性质和科学性质文献资料都是采用英文书写,这使以英语为母语的人群具有相当大的优势,他们不需特别的学习就可以阅读大量的资料。
学习英语必备的四个条件: 第一个必备条件:真正需要掌握英语,有掌握英语的欲望 第二个必备条件:有充足的学习时间 第三个必备条件:坚持的毅力和有效的学习 第四个必备条件:一定的学习方法和可执行的计划 英语的用途 学习英语决心的大小与对英语用途的认识有关。
如果认为“不出国用什么英语”、“中文资料都看不过来,哪里还有时间看英语资料”和“周围的人大都不会英语,自己不会无所谓”等等,就不可能重视英语学习,学生有了这种思想,就会勉强应付,以通过考试作为学习目标,考试结束,英语学习也随之结束;在职人员有了这种思想,虽然在形势影响下也可能学习英语,但碰到一点困难,就会停止或放弃。
如果认识到英语是我们了解世界和让世界了解中国必不可少的工具,就会下决心一定要学会英语。
1.对外交流需要英语例如随着改革开放的深入发展,来华旅游的外国人越来越多,他们需要与普通的中国人进行接触与交流。
正如有的来华旅游者反映的“中国地大物博,风景秀丽,是旅游者最有话与本地人说的一个国家,可是又是最找不到人(普通老百姓)说话的一个国家。
” 他们的这个说法难道不是从另一个方面说明英语是很有用的吗
各行各业的普通老百姓从实践中已经认识到这一点,他们学习英语的积极性空前高涨,旅馆服务员在学,出租汽车司机在学,个体商贩也在学。
随着我国经济的发展,普通老百姓出国旅游必将越来越多,届时人们对于英语重要性的认识还会上升到一个新的高度。
2.不出国也需要英话 随着近年来世界范围的信息高速公路的高速发展,世界进入了信息社会和网络世界(1997年世界经济论坛会议语),地球显得越来越小,国内和国外的界限变得不大清楚了。
从一定意义上讲, 可以说国内就是国外。
例如随着Internet网上多媒体(文字、声音和图像)的World Wide Web(即www)的出现,各种虚拟(virtual)事物层出不穷。
只要有一台电脑和相应的软件,加入网上的虚 拟大学(virtual university),用不着出国就可以上国外的大学并获得学位;在网上进行虚拟旅游(virtual tourism),足不出户就可以周游世界。
由于电脑空间(cyberspace)里信息极其丰富和详细,在电脑上进行虚拟旅游后对于世界名胜古迹的了解和印象可能比实地到过的人还要深刻和全面,真是“秀才不出门,全知天下事,立知天下事”。
但是所有这一切都离不开英语,因为网上百分之九十以上的信息是英语。
Internet网上各种信息名目繁多,五花八门,网点配置错综复杂,犹如一个信息迷宫。
面对电脑键盘,用什么指令进入这个迷宫,在不断变化的屏幕英语显示面前,怎样一步一步进行下去,都要在动态搜索过程中实时做出判断。
很显然,要做到这一点, 没有比较高的英语水平是不行的。
英语水平不高的人进入1nternet网,在纷繁的英语屏幕提示面前,边查词典边分析语法,刚开始时也许还能勉强进行几步,用不了多长时间就会胡乱击键,搜索到那儿算那儿,在资料的大海里随波逐流,听天由命。
其结果不是找到需要的信息,而是淹没在信息的汪洋大海之中,他们对于Internet的热情也就随之减退。
此外还有一个费用问题。
1nternet网的资料检索是联机在线进行的,占用一分钟要交一分钟的费用(即使所检索的资料免费,占用的通信线路的费用总是要交的)。
所以只有具有较高的英语水平,面对屏幕上的英语提示,一看就懂,才能在最短的时间,花最少的费用就能到达合适的网点,找到的合适资料,尽情享受高科技带给我们的乐趣。
3.不搞高科技也需要英语不少人认为只有在国内搞高科技的人才需要查阅国外的英语资料,从事一般科技工作的人就不一定需要了。
其实这是一个极大的误解。
一般说来,我们中国不仅仅在尖端科技方面落后于外国,在一般科技方面也远远落后于外国。
任何从事非尖端科技工作的人要想在自己的专业方面有长进,也必须懂得英语,以便及时了解国外的动态,吸取其先进经验。

那么如何才能打造一篇精彩的英语演讲稿呢
下面笔者就以乔布斯2005年斯坦福大学毕业演讲稿为范本来具体剖析一下英语演讲稿的写作要点,帮助大家了解其基本写作要领。
结构清楚,逻辑清晰 由于公共演讲的听众一般有数十人甚至数百、数千人,再加上演讲环境的不确定性(比如观众的欢呼或者抱怨),演讲者最好在进入主题之后马上给出所讲内容的框架结构,使听众能跟随演讲者的思路,更好地预判整个演讲内容,以达到良好的演讲效果。
比如,乔布斯在2005年斯坦福大学毕业典礼上的演讲中,开篇稍微寒暄之后就进入正题:“Today I want to tell you three stories from my life. That’s it. No big deal. Just three stories.”听众马上能对演讲内容做出预判——今天会听到乔布斯谈三点,然后他们会关注具体是哪三点。
这种演讲就具备了“以观众为中心”的特质。
乔布斯在随后的演讲中分别提到,The first story is about connecting the dots.My second story is about love and loss.My third story is about death.由于演讲思路非常明晰,听众在听完之后也会记忆犹新。

除此之外,还有空间顺序,“提出问题——分析问题——解决问题”的顺序等。
大家可以根据不同演讲内容的需要来安排自己演讲稿的逻辑顺序和整体结构。
开篇出彩,吸引听众 演讲稿的开篇往往需要花费大量的功夫去设计。
在写作开篇时,演讲者需要结合听众特点、演讲场合和演讲主题等因素,争取在一开始就紧紧抓住听众的注意力和兴趣。
下面笔者就介绍一下基本的演讲开篇模式,供大家以后写作演讲稿参考。
演讲稿开篇的目的是吸引听众。
乔布斯在他的演讲稿开篇使用的是“关联话题与听众”的方式。
这是一种比较有效的方法,因为人们一般对自己的事情都很关注,和自己相关的事情也会格外留意。
乔布斯在演讲开篇说道:I am honored to be with you today for your commencement from one of the finest universities in the world. Truth be told, I never graduated from college. And this is the closest I've ever gotten to a college graduation.高度赞美斯坦福大学——这就是在与听众发生关联。
乔布斯就是通过这种方式让听众一开始就对自己产生好感或对自己的演讲内容产生兴趣。
当然,乔布斯还用了适当的幽默,更好地融洽了与听众的关系。
除了乔布斯的这种开篇方式外,我们还需要了解和掌握其他一些开篇方式:①指出演讲话题的重要性。
比如要做一场关于“英语演讲的艺术”的演讲,演讲者在一开始就可以指出该演讲对于听众今后的学习、工作将会有很大帮助,甚至可以给出一些数据和实例,让听众明白不听这个演讲将会是一个损失,这样听众就会乐于认真听演讲了。
②使听众感到震惊。
例如要做一场关于“生活方式与疾病”的演讲,开篇就可以给出一组极具冲击力的数据,让听众看到生活方式不健康将会产生多么可怕的后果,这样的震惊能够使听众快速调整状态,投入到听演讲中去。
③引起听众的好奇心。
演讲者可以在开篇指出一种特别的现象,听众出于好奇就会认真听演讲,想知道演讲者如何分析或解释。
④向观众提问。
演讲者可以在开篇提出一个问题,这样可以引发听众的思考,也会引导他们去听演讲者如何解答问题。
此外,也可以在开篇引用一段名言,或是讲述一个故事等,这些基本的开篇方式被无数的演讲证明是实用而且有效的。
观点明确,支撑有效 毫无疑问,在演讲稿中,主体段的信息量最大,写作量也最大。
如何清晰地阐释演讲者的观点或演讲要点,如何用相关事实有效地支撑演讲者的各个论点或要点,是演讲稿主体段写作时应该把握的关键。
乔布斯在斯坦福大学的毕业演讲中明确给出了三个要点:① The first story is about connecting the dots. ② My second story is about love and loss. ③ My third story is about death.为了清晰、有效地阐述自己想要表达的这三个要点,他运用了以下三种手段:首先是举例子。
乔布斯在演讲中用了大量的事例来说明他怎么对待学习、工作和死亡。
比如他说自己读书时旁听有意思的书法课程,这些课在当时对他没什么实质帮助,但是十年后在当他设计第一款Macintosh电脑的时候,这些东西全派上了用场,这个例子充分说明了他演讲的第一个要点——串起生命中的点滴。
另一个手段是引用。
乔布斯在演讲中引用了一些名言警句来阐述自己的观点。

We'd just released our finest creation—the Macintosh—a year earlier, and I'd just turned 30.数据很直观,能让听众更直接地认识和理解演讲内容。
结尾有“道”,画龙点睛 演讲的结尾往往需要起到“画龙点睛”的作用,要尽量做到意味深长、启发思考。
开篇和正文再好,如果结尾过于平淡,整个演讲的精彩程度也会大打折扣。
那么如何做到结尾有“道”呢
首先我们来看看乔布斯的这篇演讲稿,他的结尾比开篇更加出彩,采用的是“引文结尾”的方式,达到了引人深思的效果。
他在结尾说道:Stewart and his team put out several issues of the Whole Earth Catalog, and then when it had run its course, they put out a final issue. It was the mid-1970s, and I was your age. On the back cover of their final issue was a photograph of an early morning country road, the kind you might find yourself hitchhiking on if you were so adventurous. Beneath it were the words 'Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.' It was their farewell message as they signed off. Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish. And I have always wished that for myself. And now, as you graduate to begin anew, I wish that for you. Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish.乔布斯不仅在演讲结尾引用了这句Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish(求知若渴,虚怀若谷),而且重复三遍,强化了听众的印象。
这句话后来也被广泛传播,被誉为该篇演讲的精髓。
除了乔布斯这种“引文结尾”的方式,常见的演讲结尾方式还有如下几种:①总结演讲。
对演讲中的各个论点或要点进行简单总结和梳理,加深听众的印象。
②强有力的陈述。
这种方式不同于引用他人之言,往往是演讲者自己的总结和心声。
一个非常经典的例子是Patrick Henry的演讲“Liberty or Death”。
他在结尾时说道:“Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery
Forbid it, Almighty God
I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty, or give me death
”③首尾呼应。
在演讲结尾对开篇提到的主题和重点进行重新阐述,这是体现演讲内在统一性的经典形式,值得借鉴。
为了更加有效地掌握文中讲到的写作演讲稿的要点,笔者建议大家做到以下三点:①多看。
多看一些演讲素材,比如名人演讲、演讲比赛优秀选手的演讲等,积累大量的一手素材;也有必要阅读一些关于英语公共演讲的书籍,笔者在此推荐Stephen E. Lucas的《演讲的艺术》(The Art of Public Speaking)一书。
②多想。
学会分析这些演讲之所以精彩的原因,可以从笔者上面讲的几点入手分析。
③多练。
在有了一定的积累之后,要大量练习写作演讲稿,话题可以从日常学习和工作中选取,这样练习起来会更有兴趣和成就感。
