In the center of your heart and my heart there’s a wireless station : so long as it receives messages of beauty , hope ,cheer, courage and power from men and from the infinite, so long as you are young . When the aerials are down , and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old ,even at 20 , but as long as your aerials are up ,to catch waves of optimism , there is hope you may die young at 80. 为演讲全文实录: 我的同胞们, 今天我站在这里,看到眼前面临的重大任务,深感卑微。
我感谢你们对我的信任,也知道先辈们为了这个国家所作的牺牲。

国家的经济情况要求我们采取大胆且快速的行动,我们的确是要行动,不仅是要创造就业,更要为(下一轮经济)增长打下新的基础。
我们将造桥铺路,为企业铺设电网和数字线路,将我们联系在一起。
我们将回归科学,运用科技的奇迹提高医疗质量,降低医疗费用。

我们将改革中小学以及大专院校,以适应新时代的要求。

现在,有一些人开始质疑我们的野心是不是太大了,他们认为我们的体制承载不了太多的宏伟计划。

而掌管纳税人税金的人应当承担起责任,合理支出,摒弃陋习,磊落做事,这有这样才能在政府和人民之间重建至关重要的相互信任。
我们面临的问题也不是市场好坏的问题。
市场创造财富、拓展自由的能力无可匹敌,但是这场危机提醒我们,如果没有监管,市场很可能就会失去控制,而且偏袒富人国家的繁荣无法持久。
国家经济的成败不仅仅取决于国内生产总值的大小,而且取决于繁荣的覆盖面,取决于我们是否有能力让所有有意愿的人都有机会走向富裕。
我们这样做不是慈善,而是因为这是确保实现共同利益的途径。
就共同防御而言,我们认为国家安全与国家理想的只能选其一的排他选择是错的。
面对我们几乎无法想像的危险,我们的先辈们起草了确保法治和个人权利的宪章。
一代代人民的鲜血夯实了这一宪章。
宪章中的理想依然照亮着世界,我们不能以经验之谈放弃这些理想。

I also want to point out the irony of speaking to graduates of an institution that would have rejected me, had I the chutzpah to apply. I am married to Dean Jean, the former dean of admissions at Stanford. She assures me that she would have rejected me, if given the chance. When I showed her a draft of this speech, she objected strongly to my use of the word rejected. She never rejected applicants; her letters stated that we are unable to offer you admission. I have difficulty understanding the difference. After all, deans of admissions of highly selective schools are in reality, deans of rejection. My address will follow the classical sonata form of commencement addresses. The first movement, just presented, were light-hearted remarks. This next movement consists of unsolicited advice, which is rarely valued, seldom remembered, never followed. As Oscar Wilde said, The only thing to do with good advice is to pass it on. It is never of any use to oneself. So, here comes the advice. First, every time you celebrate an achievement, be thankful to those who made it possible. Thank your parents and friends who supported you, thank your professors who were inspirational, and especially thank the other professors whose less-than-brilliant lectures forced you to teach yourself. Going forward, the ability to teach yourself is the hallmark of a great liberal arts education and will be the key to your success. To your fellow students who have added immeasurably to your education during those late night discussions, hug them. Also, of course, thank Harvard. Should you forget, there's an alumni association to remind you. Second, in your future life, cultivate a generous spirit. In all negotiations, don't bargain for the last, little advantage. Leave the change on the table. In your collaborations, always remember that credit is not a conserved quantity. My third piece of advice is as follows: As you begin this new stage of your lives, follow your passion. If you don't have a passion, don't be satisfied until you find one. Life is too short to go through it without caring deeply about something. When I was your age, I was incredibly single-minded in my goal to be a physicist. After college, I spent eight years as a graduate student and postdoc at Berkeley, and then nine years at Bell Labs. Here is my final piece of advice. Pursuing a personal passion is important, but it should not be your only goal. When you are old and gray, and look back on your life, you will want to be proud of what you have done. After nine years at Bell labs, I decided to leave that warm, cozy ivory tower for what I considered to be the real world, a university. Bell Labs, to quote what was said about Mary Poppins, was practically perfect in every way, but I wanted to leave behind something more than scientific articles. My students, post doctoral fellows, and the young researchers who worked with me at Bell Labs, Stanford, and Berkeley have been extraordinary. Over 30 former group members are now professors, many at the best research institutions in the world, including Harvard. I have learned much from them. Seven years ago, my wife and I had to take our five week old daughter off of life support, by far the hardest and most painful decision of our life. Our daughter, Alle Shea, was born with the rare bone disease called Osteogenesis Imperfecta. At birth Alle Shea’s skull looked like a cracked egg on the x-rays. She also had multiple fractures in her arms and her ribs, her legs, and her wrist. The day Alle was leaving us, we were able to take her outside on the hospital deck and hold her in our arms until she passed away.7年前,妻子和我给5周大的女儿停止了维持生命的治疗。

Now, we had two choices that day: we could have let the grief over take us, or we could take that grief and turn it into a positive. Since that day, my wife and I have worked tirelessly volunteering our time hosting special events, and talking to students and the media about OI. We even contacted hospitals to try to get them on board with our cause - and this is the battle we are still fighting. Over the seven years, we have volunteered thousands of hours. February of 2015 we started OI Care for You program. We send stuffed animals to children with OI in the hospital for treatment, surgery or home recovering from a break.那天我们有两个选择:要么被悲伤击倒,要么把伤痛化为动力。
