Ladies and Gentlemen, Comrades and Friends, As the clock counts down the few remaining hours to the Year 2005, through China Radio International, China National Radio and China Central Television, I am very delighted to extend my best wishes to Chinese people of all ethnic groups, people in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Macao Special Administrative Region, and in Taiwan, overseas Chinese and friends of all countries in the world. In 2004, Chinese people worked hard and made new strides in creating a well-off society in an all round way, and pushing forward the country's socialist modernization drive. This year, guided by the Deng Xiaoping Theory and the important thought of Three Represents, we set up a human-oriented and sustainable development concept. We have deepened our reform and opening-up, promoted economic development and maintained social stability. The national economy has maintained a good growth; the construction of a political and spiritual civilization has made new achievements; and Chinese people's lives further improved. At the Fourth Plenary Session of the 16th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, we summarized our experience in governance and mapped out a blue print for further improving our governing capability. At present, the Chinese people of all ethnic groups are working hard to achieve national prosperity and rejuvenation, social harmony and people's well-being In the past year, we held high the banner of promoting peace, development and cooperation, adhered to the independent foreign policy of peace, and adhered to peaceful development. However, some unstable and uncertain factors to world peace and development are also on rise, with regional conflict, terrorism, the gap between north and south, environmental degradation, and trade barriers challenging world peace and development. Maintaining world peace and promoting common development is the shared goal of people in all countries. The Chinese are willing to work with everyone in the world to promote the establishment of a new international political and economic order that is just and rational, promote democratization of international relations, respect diversities in the world, help establish a new security concept and endeavour to realize a balanced and sustainable development of the world economy. 英语的重要性（演讲稿）
为什么要学习英语一、英语是当今世界上主要的国际通用语言。
从全世界来看，说英语的人数已经超过了任何语言的人数，10多个国家以英语为母语，45个国家的官方语言是英语，世界三分之一的人口（二十几亿）讲英语。
比如在日本，除了他们的本国母语——日语之外，英语是他们的第二语言，很多高层次的日本人以会说英语为荣；二、英语的使用范围非常广泛。
全世界75％的电视节目是英语，四分之三的邮件是用英语书写，电脑键盘是英语键盘，任何一个会议敢号称是国际会议，其会议工作语言一定要用英语，也是联合国的正式工作语言。
我们看到，很多官方的、政府性质的活动、文件、交流方式都使用英语。
外贸行业也把英语作为通用语言，外贸交往、国际礼仪、书信函电、进出口文件、还有银行文件语言等等，统统以英语作为标准通用语言。
大多数国家的高等学府，大学院校，都开设英语语言文学专业，仅在中国，就有一百多所大学设有英语专业或英语相关专业。
电脑和互联网，也是建立在英语的基础上，这个行业的语言，就是英语。
此外，在医学领域、建筑领域、文学领域，都与英语有极大的关联。
三、国家发展和国际合作需要英语中国在近几十年的确发生了翻天覆地的变化，各方面都发展得很快。
但是，不容置疑的是，我们在很多技术方面仍然落后于西方先进国家。
要发展，要进步，要在较短的时间内掌握各种技术，我们不可能单靠自己搞研究，必须学习发达国家先进的技术，而学习的必要前提便是要掌握世界通用技术交

大家好
今天我演讲的题目是《英语的重要性》。
只会说家乡话，难以走出家门
只会说中国话，无法面对世界
所以，学好英语，迫在眉睫。
①英语是当今世界上主要的国际通用语言之一，也是世界上最广泛使用的语言。
据1986年的统计，世界上以英语为母语的人近4亿，差不多每十个人中就有一个人讲英语。
英国、美国、加拿大、澳大利亚、新西兰等国家的人都讲英语。
世界上约有20个国家把英语作为官方语言或第二语言使用，共计约有8亿人。
也就是说，世界上差不多每五个人中有一个人至少在一定程度上懂英语。
若加上世界各国中小学生学习英语的人数，懂英语的人就更多了。
英语已经成为当今世界数十个国家的官方语言，这些国家独占了全世界70%以上的财富 … … 不懂英语就意味着跟这70%的机会无缘。
另有一大批原本的非英语国家，如我们的近邻日本韩国，随着经济起飞，跟国际市场快速融合，英语早已普及化，大众化，大大改变了这些国家的语言使用面貌。
调查显示，在这些国家，英语水平跟个人社会地位等级明显成正比。
②英语的使用范围非常广泛。
世界上70%以上的邮件是用英文写或用英文写地址的。
全世界科技出版物 70% 以上用英语发表。
全世界的广播节目中，有60%是用英语进行的。
绝大部分的国际会议是以英语为第一通用语言(90% 以上的国际会议用英语召开),它也是联合国的正式工作语言之一。
总之，在国际政治、军事、经济、科技、文化、贸易、交通运输等领域，英语是一个重要的交际工具。
随着我国对外开放的不断扩大化,科学技术的不断进步,国际地位的不断提高,迫切需要造就一大批精通外语的专门人才,以加速我国“四化”进程，使我国在国际事务中发挥更大更积极的作用。
因此，学好英语对实现上述目标具有重要的现实意义和深远的历史意义。
我觉得英语是非常重要的，比如说：你来到了外国迷路了，或者要找人什么的，你不会英语，你就无法和别人问路或者交谈了。
英语的重要性是显而易见的：信息高速公路“互联网”信息近 80% 是由英语承载，许多技术性质和科学性质文献资料都是采用英文书写，这使以英语为母语的人群具有相当大的优势，他们不需特别的学习就可以阅读大量的资料。
学习英语必备的四个条件: 第一个必备条件：真正需要掌握英语，有掌握英语的欲望 第二个必备条件：有充足的学习时间 第三个必备条件：坚持的毅力和有效的学习 第四个必备条件：一定的学习方法和可执行的计划 英语的用途 学习英语决心的大小与对英语用途的认识有关。
如果认为“不出国用什么英语”、“中文资料都看不过来，哪里还有时间看英语资料”和“周围的人大都不会英语，自己不会无所谓”等等，就不可能重视英语学习，学生有了这种思想，就会勉强应付，以通过考试作为学习目标，考试结束，英语学习也随之结束；在职人员有了这种思想，虽然在形势影响下也可能学习英语，但碰到一点困难，就会停止或放弃。
如果认识到英语是我们了解世界和让世界了解中国必不可少的工具，就会下决心一定要学会英语。
1．对外交流需要英语例如随着改革开放的深入发展，来华旅游的外国人越来越多，他们需要与普通的中国人进行接触与交流。
正如有的来华旅游者反映的“中国地大物博，风景秀丽，是旅游者最有话与本地人说的一个国家，可是又是最找不到人（普通老百姓）说话的一个国家。
” 他们的这个说法难道不是从另一个方面说明英语是很有用的吗
各行各业的普通老百姓从实践中已经认识到这一点，他们学习英语的积极性空前高涨，旅馆服务员在学，出租汽车司机在学，个体商贩也在学。
随着我国经济的发展，普通老百姓出国旅游必将越来越多，届时人们对于英语重要性的认识还会上升到一个新的高度。
2．不出国也需要英话 随着近年来世界范围的信息高速公路的高速发展，世界进入了信息社会和网络世界（1997年世界经济论坛会议语），地球显得越来越小，国内和国外的界限变得不大清楚了。
从一定意义上讲， 可以说国内就是国外。
例如随着Internet网上多媒体（文字、声音和图像）的World Wide Web（即www）的出现，各种虚拟（virtual）事物层出不穷。
只要有一台电脑和相应的软件，加入网上的虚 拟大学（virtual university），用不着出国就可以上国外的大学并获得学位；在网上进行虚拟旅游（virtual tourism），足不出户就可以周游世界。
由于电脑空间（cyberspace）里信息极其丰富和详细，在电脑上进行虚拟旅游后对于世界名胜古迹的了解和印象可能比实地到过的人还要深刻和全面，真是“秀才不出门，全知天下事，立知天下事”。
但是所有这一切都离不开英语，因为网上百分之九十以上的信息是英语。
Internet网上各种信息名目繁多，五花八门，网点配置错综复杂，犹如一个信息迷宫。
面对电脑键盘，用什么指令进入这个迷宫，在不断变化的屏幕英语显示面前，怎样一步一步进行下去，都要在动态搜索过程中实时做出判断。
很显然，要做到这一点， 没有比较高的英语水平是不行的。
英语水平不高的人进入1nternet网，在纷繁的英语屏幕提示面前，边查词典边分析语法，刚开始时也许还能勉强进行几步，用不了多长时间就会胡乱击键，搜索到那儿算那儿，在资料的大海里随波逐流，听天由命。
其结果不是找到需要的信息，而是淹没在信息的汪洋大海之中，他们对于Internet的热情也就随之减退。
此外还有一个费用问题。
1nternet网的资料检索是联机在线进行的，占用一分钟要交一分钟的费用（即使所检索的资料免费，占用的通信线路的费用总是要交的）。
所以只有具有较高的英语水平，面对屏幕上的英语提示，一看就懂，才能在最短的时间，花最少的费用就能到达合适的网点，找到的合适资料，尽情享受高科技带给我们的乐趣。
3．不搞高科技也需要英语不少人认为只有在国内搞高科技的人才需要查阅国外的英语资料，从事一般科技工作的人就不一定需要了。
其实这是一个极大的误解。
一般说来，我们中国不仅仅在尖端科技方面落后于外国，在一般科技方面也远远落后于外国。
任何从事非尖端科技工作的人要想在自己的专业方面有长进，也必须懂得英语，以便及时了解国外的动态，吸取其先进经验。
