资料原四、六级考试暴露种种弊端我国英语四、六级考试从第一次的10万人发展到2004年的1100万人，成为世界上单科规模最大的考试，也逐步暴露了种种弊端。
考试不符合实际应用的要求教育部副部长吴启迪表示，学生学了这么多年英语，参加国际会议还不行，甚至听不懂人家讲的话，必然要求四、六级考试尽快地从考试内容和形式上进行改革，更加注重检测学生以听说能力为主的英语实际应用能力。
考试有功利色彩，导致作弊吴启迪说，“由于种种原因，四、六级考试受到了社会过度的关注。
一方面有的学校把四、六级考试与毕业证书和学位证书挂钩。
另一方面，用人单位把四、六级作为用人的标准，这必然导致不少学校为了盲目追求通过率进行应试教学，少数学校还发现了作弊的现象，甚至不法分子铤而走险作出违法乱纪的事情。
在防止作弊方面，迫切需要对四、六级考试本身以及管理体制进行改革。
”今年6月：记分体制全国统一实行 明年1月：开始试行考试内容改革教育部计划从2005年6月考试（试点）起，四、六级考试成绩将采用满分为710分的计分体制。
从明年1月份开始，从参加大学英语教学改革试点的180所高校的大学生中试行改革后的四级考试，从2006年6月份开始以同等方式试行新的六级考试。
初步定于2007年1月全面实施改革后的四级考试，2007年6月全面实施改革后的六级考试。
四六级考试中长期改革目标四、六级考试委员会将不断研究开发适合四、六级考试的新题型，研究改革后的四、六级考试对教学的后效；同时，充分利用高科技手段，完善考务管理系统，实现四、六级考试网上阅卷（CET-OnlineMarking），研究计算机化的四、六级考试（CET-CBT），争取在一定考生范围内或在某种能力测试中实现四、六级机考。
不硬性规定四六级考试与学位挂钩对于四六级考试到底与学位是否挂钩的问题，教育部在新闻发布会上再次澄清，从未规定考试成绩要与学位挂钩，也不提倡大学这样做。
教育部高教司司长张尧学表示，四、六级考试历来是自愿参加，从来没有要求学生一定要参加。
教育部也从未规定四六级考试与学位挂钩，有的大学考试和学历就是分开的。
如果大学认为考试代表了学生的英语水平，要求学生一定要通过这个考试，这是学校的自主权，教育部不做硬性要求。
反对招聘以四六级成绩作为标准谈到社会用人单位以四、六级做为用人标准时，吴启迪认为，除非是涉外，要求语言很好。
其他工作岗位的要求，该怎么招就怎么招。
现在用人单位的盲目性比比皆是，比如追求高学历，一定要找博士，这其实非常不理性。
做为教育部门，非常不提倡这种做法。
用一种考试做为用人的标准，是不动脑筋的方式，这样做的招募部门，图的是自己方便。
考务管理将进一步加强在考务管理方面，2005年6月起教育部考试中心将启用新的四、六级考试（试点）报名和考务管理系统，严格认定考生报名资格，加强对考场组织和考风考纪的管理，切实做好考试保密工作。
试点阶段具体测试内容在考试内容和形式上，四、六级考试将加大听力理解部分的题量和比例，增加快速阅读理解测试，增加非选择性试题的比例。
试点阶段四、六级考试各部分测试内容、题型和所占比例如下表所示：听力题材选用对话、讲座、广播电视节目等更具真实性的材料。
仔细阅读部分除测试篇章阅读理解外，还包括对篇章语境中的词汇理解的测试；快速阅读部分测试各种快速阅读技能。
