Good morning my fellow classmates! It is my pleasure to give a speech on this stage today. I would like to bring you some knowledge on basketball and NBA, as basketball has alway been my favourite sport.As we all know, basket ball has been one of the most popular sports in China for many years. There are many reasons for the popularity of this sport, and it is undeniable that the mass media has made a great contribution to popularize basketball. National Basketball Association (NBA), the most important basketball association in the US was formed In 1946. The first NBA match starts in the first or second week of November, and the first round which is the regular season ends at the end of April. After the winning teams finish the semi final and the final matches, we will have our champion. Usually we can watch NBA matches on TV, the NBA commentators will explain the tactics throughout the match and meanwhile they also introduce us their basketball players. That is how we get to know the famous basketball stars. Basketball 简介： Basketball, the ultimate in team sports（最典型的集体运动）, can be played indoors and out, on a court or in the park. It doesn’t cost a lot to play, it isn’t complicated, and once you know how to play it, you can hang a hoop（设置一个篮圈） just about anywhere. Starting Out 开始吧! Basketball is a pretty simple game once you know a few rules. After you’ve learned the basic skills, you can walk up to any court and join a spontaneous pickup game（加入自发组织的一场比赛中去）. 介绍科比的Kobe Bryant is the youngest child and only son of Joe and Pam Bryant. His parents named him after a kind of steak: the famous beef of Kobe, Japan, which they saw on a restaurant menu. At the age of six, Kobe, his parents and two older sisters, Shaya and Sharia, moved to Italy, where his father began playing professional basketball. He became accustomed to the lifestyle and became fluent in Italian. At an early age, he learned to play soccer and his favorite team was AC Milan. Bryant once said that if he had stayed in Italy, he would have stuck with soccer and would have tried to become a pro soccer player. In 1991, the Bryants moved back to the United States. A spectacular high school career at Lower Merion High School in the Philadelphia suburb of Lower Merion, brought national recognition. While his SAT score of 1080would have ensured his basketball scholarship to various top-tier colleges, the 17-year-old Bryant made the controversial decision to go directly to the NBA.
