洞中供有慈眉善目、端坐修行的法海塑像。
在法海洞北，玉带桥畔有一个白龙洞，洞内有白娘子和小青的汉白玉雕像。
传说峨眉山上白蛇，化成美貌的白娘子，和药店伙计许仙结成恩爱夫妻，和尚法海认为，这是触犯天规，将许仙诓骗到金山。
白娘子和小青调来虾兵蟹将，水漫金山寺。
后来，许仙由白龙洞赶到杭州与白娘子断桥相会。
这就是老幼皆知的白娘子“水漫金山”的神话故事。
沿着白龙洞向右上行一段路，我们抬头就望见了岩壁上刻着明代滕谧所书的“朝阳洞”三个大字。
这个洞又名日照岩，洞顶的悬岩上刻有“日照岩”三字。
这里是金山观日出最佳处。
