谢天振：杨先生毕生的愿望，就是把中国文化介绍给全世界。
如果我们真的认同杨先生的理念，那就应该把他所追求的，踏踏实实地做下去。
毕竟，中国文化的全球传播，并不是译文翻完就算成功了。
它还涉及到一个更大的命题：中国文化如何才能走向世界
这个问题上长期以来一直有一个认识上的误区，以为只要把中文翻成外文，就自然而然走向世界了。
其实并非如此。
作家刘心武告诉我，他去巴黎时惊讶地发现，法国的文化学者们竟然都没听说过鲁迅，而其实我们已经翻译了大量的鲁迅作品。
此外，我的一位博士生，论文就是“《红楼梦》英译史研究”。
她发现，尽管《红楼梦》的全译本中，杨宪益先生的译本比起英国汉学家霍克斯的译本更加准确高明，然而令人沮丧的是，她在国外知名的几大图书馆发现，借阅率、引用率最高的是霍本，看过杨本的寥寥无几。
其实换位思考一下，我们中国读者如果想看西方名著，一般也会首选国内翻译家的译本，比如巴尔扎克的小说，就会选傅雷的译本。
傅译文笔流畅漂亮，贴近中国人的审美趣味，懂法文的专家甚至觉得比巴尔扎克的原文更美。
龚丹韵：既然选择本国人的译本是不可避免的倾向，而西方汉学家毕竟有限，中国文化想要走向世界，突破口究竟在哪里
谢天振：现在大家都对中国文化走出去的意愿很强，成百上千种中国文化典籍被翻成了英文，初衷很好，但最后往往是：国内出版，国内发行几千册，躺在国内图书馆里。
最多让国外留学生看，留学生回家乡后，可能还是选择他们国家的译本。
与此对比的是，中法文化年上，有位中国作家的小说译本销售高达9万多册，关键就在于它由法国出版社出版，很容易经由法国的文化渠道流传开来。
国际上一般提倡外语翻母语。
母语翻外语，尽管可以做到不出差错，但对国外读者而言，阅读起来还是有隔膜。
毕竟本国的译者更了解本国读者的阅读习惯和文化趣味。
不过对中国而言，国外精通中文的人才实在有限，任其自然是不行的。
所以目前的策略上，我们不妨积极鼓励国外学者、国外出版社多翻译点中国名著，甚至可以给他们配备中方的顾问，或者中外合作翻译等，在国外的流通渠道出版，如此才能事半功倍。

龚丹韵：让外国人来翻译，难免对中国文化有所误读。
对我们而言也是如此，比如村上春树的小说换了一位译者，让读者们大为吃惊，与原来的风格感觉居然可以完全不同。
翻译究竟该怎么处理文化之间的差异
谢天振：中国的翻译历史经过两个阶段：清末民初时，我们对西方了解太少，为适应国内读者的阅读习惯，采取的方法是“归化”。
比如林纾翻译《福尔摩斯》时，说他“拂袖而去”，现在我们都知道西装袖口是做不出这个动作的。
翻译中的这类扭曲，当时也无可奈何，必须先让中国人理解为先。
鲁迅首先注意到这个问题，极力强调保持语言的原汁原味，可惜他的实践并不成功，但那种高瞻远瞩的眼光值得肯定。
随着我们对西方文化了解愈深，新时期的翻译，追求的方法是“异化”，尽量把有差异的文化信息直接翻给中国读者。
其实翻译永远不可能百分百契合原著。
有一句名言：翻译总是一种创造性叛逆。
我曾对村上春树小说的第一个译者林少华说，“中国读者首先是通过你的翻译，接受了村上，喜欢上了村上，这就是你的贡献。
”而现在，因为对村上有了一定的理解和兴趣基础，读者希望有更贴近原文的译文，这也是很正常的。
翻译异域文化不可能一蹴而就，需要有一个过程。
我们了解西方文化用了100多年的时间，而西方对我们的了解才刚刚开始起步，不可能指望西方短时间内就能奉献出非常忠于原文的中国典籍译本。
龚丹韵：随着年轻人的外文水平普遍提高，网友们组成了各种翻译小组，第一手的外国文化作品，从小说、电影到电视剧等，大多经由这些“字幕组”先在网上流传，您对此怎么看
谢天振：我对年轻人参与翻译持肯定态度，社会对翻译的热情，有助于整体翻译水平的提高，人们会更了解翻译是怎么回事。
上外高翻学院的学生中，最优秀的学员往往是非外语专业出身，反而外语专业的学生，局限于单纯的语言训练，缺少文化训练，知识面狭窄，视野不够开阔，在翻译上显示不出自己的优势。
现在翻译已经进入到一个职业化时代，充分利用因特网、电脑翻译软件，正是这个时代的一大特征。
网上的字幕组也许还无意成为职业翻译，但是若干年后其中说不定也会冒出几个优秀的网络翻译家。
翻译本来就交汇着各种学科、各种专业，职业化时代的翻译更是一个开放的大平台，这样，翻译事业才会更加兴旺发达。
