座右铭有什么作用
在时下，你经常会看到，在领导的办公室或是寻常人的书房厅堂，都会挂上一幅找人写的墨迹；不知真是用来作为警句或座右铭，还是依附儒雅，问之，回答基本雷同而且简单：“我喜欢这句话！”
于是乎，我想起了《容斋随笔》“君臣事迹屏风”一节有关座右铭的论述且受益非浅；将自己的心得表露出来，愿和朋友共飨。
唐宪宗登基后，新官上任，自然踌躇满志，胸怀大志，也想干一番惊天地泣鬼神的大事业以便后世流芳。元和二年，他写了《君臣事迹》，其内容是采集收纳了历代古籍所记载的君臣行事可以借鉴的事情，共收集整理成十四篇，宪宗皇帝亲自作了序言，并将其书写于屏风上，排列在他的座位右方，可见宪宗皇帝的用意，一来警示自家如何处理国家朝政大事，二来告诫自己的臣子应该如何为官，显而易见，这初衷是无可非议的`。

在《现代汉语规范词典》中，对于座右铭是这样解释的：古人放在座位右边用来自警的铭文；泛指用以自励、自警的格言。看来座右铭的主要作用是用来激励和警示自己的。作为宪宗皇帝《君臣事迹》和我们一般意义上的座右铭没有什么不同，但他还多了一层告诫大臣的意思，谁让人家是皇帝老儿呢？但归根结底，既然是座右铭，他的主要目的应该还是警示自己，不然的话，宪宗皇帝就不应该将《君臣事迹》屏风放在自己龙座的右侧。
既然座右铭是古代人发明的，我就想看看座右铭的来历，一查资料才发现，有关座右铭的来历有好多种说法，不知谁对谁非了，于是信手记录了两种座右铭来历的说法：一说，早见于《文选》中崔瑗《座右铭》一文，注说：“瑗兄璋为人所杀，瑗手刃其仇，亡命，蒙赦而出，作此铭以戒，尝置座右，故曰座右铭也。”；二说，宋朝有个叫吴介的人，很喜欢史书，史书中记载的可以汲取的经验教训的事，他都抄录了下来，放在座位的右边，称之为座右铭。不论是那种说法，但用以都是用来激励和警示自己的。
铭，就是刻在器物上记述生平、事业或警示自己的文字。
座右铭，在中国流传至今，也不完全局限于将文字刻在器物上的形式了，也算是与时俱进吧，但其内涵没有发生改变。有想法的人，或称为有理想有抱负的人常常会引经据典将名人格言或经典语句等，作为自己的座右铭。当然，不是古板地将其放在座位的右边，有的写在
其实，座右铭只是一种形式，关键还是在自己把握，还拿唐宪宗李纯来说，当《君臣事迹》屏风一出，朝内大臣们是一片赞美之声，乐的宪宗合不拢嘴，乐也就乐乐呗，可这宪宗还意犹未尽，下了诏书进行了一番心迹的自我表白，诏书的大概意思是说：取而作为借鉴，书写成屏风。与它散见于图书典籍，心中常常想起而加羡慕，还不如列于洁白的绘锦上，用眼睛看着它而身体力行，希望它能够成为后来人的效法，而不单单是只看看古人的形象。瞧瞧，人家说的多么中肯呀！然而，事与愿违，唐宪宗是唐朝的第十二任皇帝，他在位期间的政绩，历史学家早有定论，我们姑且不去管他，单说他独出心裁的《君臣事迹》屏风的座右铭来看，和他对这个座右铭用意的自我表白，他肯定是想当一任有作为的皇帝，可惜的是，这位宪宗皇帝是靠宦官们拥立的，因此，他对宦官们的做法是百依百顺不加约束。在其执政的后几年当中，按理来说，正是他应该在事业上有所建树的年龄阶段，可是他却在宦官们的纵容之下昏了头脑，求仙问道，快活似神仙，成天想着长生不老，到处讨长生不老的仙丹妙方，早把国家社稷忘了个干干净净，那还会记得《君臣事迹》的座右铭呢？其最终的下场，还是被宦官陈弘志等人杀了，年仅43岁，执政14年，真是可悲可叹。
