此外，在医学领域、建筑领域、文学领域，都与英语有极大的关联。
三、国家发展和国际合作需要英语中国在近几十年的确发生了翻天覆地的变化，各方面都发展得很快。

另有一大批原本的非英语国家，如我们的近邻日本韩国，随着经济起飞，跟国际市场快速融合，英语早已普及化，大众化，大大改变了这些国家的语言使用面貌。
调查显示，在这些国家，英语水平跟个人社会地位等级明显成正比。
②英语的使用范围非常广泛。
世界上70%以上的邮件是用英文写或用英文写地址的。
全世界科技出版物 70% 以上用英语发表。
全世界的广播节目中，有60%是用英语进行的。
绝大部分的国际会议是以英语为第一通用语言(90% 以上的国际会议用英语召开),它也是联合国的正式工作语言之一。

因此，学好英语对实现上述目标具有重要的现实意义和深远的历史意义。
我觉得英语是非常重要的，比如说：你来到了外国迷路了，或者要找人什么的，你不会英语，你就无法和别人问路或者交谈了。
英语的重要性是显而易见的：信息高速公路“互联网”信息近 80% 是由英语承载，许多技术性质和科学性质文献资料都是采用英文书写，这使以英语为母语的人群具有相当大的优势，他们不需特别的学习就可以阅读大量的资料。
学习英语必备的四个条件: 第一个必备条件：真正需要掌握英语，有掌握英语的欲望 第二个必备条件：有充足的学习时间 第三个必备条件：坚持的毅力和有效的学习 第四个必备条件：一定的学习方法和可执行的计划 英语的用途 学习英语决心的大小与对英语用途的认识有关。
如果认为“不出国用什么英语”、“中文资料都看不过来，哪里还有时间看英语资料”和“周围的人大都不会英语，自己不会无所谓”等等，就不可能重视英语学习，学生有了这种思想，就会勉强应付，以通过考试作为学习目标，考试结束，英语学习也随之结束；在职人员有了这种思想，虽然在形势影响下也可能学习英语，但碰到一点困难，就会停止或放弃。
如果认识到英语是我们了解世界和让世界了解中国必不可少的工具，就会下决心一定要学会英语。
1．对外交流需要英语例如随着改革开放的深入发展，来华旅游的外国人越来越多，他们需要与普通的中国人进行接触与交流。
正如有的来华旅游者反映的“中国地大物博，风景秀丽，是旅游者最有话与本地人说的一个国家，可是又是最找不到人（普通老百姓）说话的一个国家。
” 他们的这个说法难道不是从另一个方面说明英语是很有用的吗
各行各业的普通老百姓从实践中已经认识到这一点，他们学习英语的积极性空前高涨，旅馆服务员在学，出租汽车司机在学，个体商贩也在学。
随着我国经济的发展，普通老百姓出国旅游必将越来越多，届时人们对于英语重要性的认识还会上升到一个新的高度。
2．不出国也需要英话 随着近年来世界范围的信息高速公路的高速发展，世界进入了信息社会和网络世界（1997年世界经济论坛会议语），地球显得越来越小，国内和国外的界限变得不大清楚了。
从一定意义上讲， 可以说国内就是国外。
例如随着Internet网上多媒体（文字、声音和图像）的World Wide Web（即www）的出现，各种虚拟（virtual）事物层出不穷。
只要有一台电脑和相应的软件，加入网上的虚 拟大学（virtual university），用不着出国就可以上国外的大学并获得学位；在网上进行虚拟旅游（virtual tourism），足不出户就可以周游世界。
由于电脑空间（cyberspace）里信息极其丰富和详细，在电脑上进行虚拟旅游后对于世界名胜古迹的了解和印象可能比实地到过的人还要深刻和全面，真是“秀才不出门，全知天下事，立知天下事”。
但是所有这一切都离不开英语，因为网上百分之九十以上的信息是英语。
Internet网上各种信息名目繁多，五花八门，网点配置错综复杂，犹如一个信息迷宫。
面对电脑键盘，用什么指令进入这个迷宫，在不断变化的屏幕英语显示面前，怎样一步一步进行下去，都要在动态搜索过程中实时做出判断。
很显然，要做到这一点， 没有比较高的英语水平是不行的。
英语水平不高的人进入1nternet网，在纷繁的英语屏幕提示面前，边查词典边分析语法，刚开始时也许还能勉强进行几步，用不了多长时间就会胡乱击键，搜索到那儿算那儿，在资料的大海里随波逐流，听天由命。
其结果不是找到需要的信息，而是淹没在信息的汪洋大海之中，他们对于Internet的热情也就随之减退。
此外还有一个费用问题。
1nternet网的资料检索是联机在线进行的，占用一分钟要交一分钟的费用（即使所检索的资料免费，占用的通信线路的费用总是要交的）。
所以只有具有较高的英语水平，面对屏幕上的英语提示，一看就懂，才能在最短的时间，花最少的费用就能到达合适的网点，找到的合适资料，尽情享受高科技带给我们的乐趣。
3．不搞高科技也需要英语不少人认为只有在国内搞高科技的人才需要查阅国外的英语资料，从事一般科技工作的人就不一定需要了。
其实这是一个极大的误解。
一般说来，我们中国不仅仅在尖端科技方面落后于外国，在一般科技方面也远远落后于外国。
任何从事非尖端科技工作的人要想在自己的专业方面有长进，也必须懂得英语，以便及时了解国外的动态，吸取其先进经验。

英语要达到几级能做翻译
在2008年的英语大纲中，对翻译部分的要求描述与2007年的大纲描述并无差别。
其主旨依旧是“主要考查考生准确理解概念或结构较复杂的英语文字材料的能力”。
尽管如此，但是，纵观往年考题，我们发现一个趋势，那就是考题材料语言句子的复杂化程度在逐步提高，因此，对考生的语言理解能力就提出了更高的要求。
实践证明，在考试的过程中，大部分考生都能对要翻译的句子有一个模糊的概念，即明白英文的大概意思，但往往会对一些小的地方把握不准，或者干脆不知道该怎么组成一个符合中文言语习惯的句子。
这些问题的解决一方面依赖于我们平时对英语学习以及中文功底的积累，另一方面也可以辅以一些小的技巧去帮助我们得到更快的提高： 一 对于翻译多重嵌套复合句，可以采用拆分句子的方式，首先找准句子主干，滤去修饰性成分，尤其是长的后置定语或者定语从句，然后再用指代词把滤去的成分逐步添加进来。
例如， But the idea that the journalist must understand the law more profoundly than an ordinary citizen rests on an understanding of the established conventions and special responsibilities of the news media.(07年考试真题) 分析：句子主干是the idea…rests on an understanding…, that后面跟的是idea的同位语从句，of后面跟的则是修饰understanding的后置定语。
按照中文的习惯，在这句话中，我们选择先翻译从句以避免所指不明晰。
【参考译文】：记者必须比普通的公民更了解法律，这种观点是基于对新闻媒体的特殊职责以及约定俗称的惯例的理解之上的。
二 依照考研英语词频，常用单词词组意思和搭配要注意积累。
例如， Furthermore, humans have the ability to modify the environment in which they live, thus subjecting all other life forms to their own peculiar ideas and fancies.(03年第61题) 分析：很多同学对这个句子的后半句感到费劲是因为没有看懂后半句话中的核心词组subject… to。
考研英语是一个系统连贯的工程，考生平常可以通过对真题的大量研究，找出词频规律，对那些高频的单词和词组应多加注意。
例如，本题中的subject… to在04年第28题All theories, however, are tentative and are subject to criticism出现过，在05年完形填空13题的备选干扰项中也出现了。
意思为，使臣服，使服从。

三 纵观这两年考研翻译选题，新增语言考点有借鉴选自国外著名领导人演讲稿的趋势。
例如06年第49题(But his primary task is not to think about the moral code which governs his activity, any more than a businessman is expected to dedicate his energies to an exploration of rules of conduct in business)，核心句式not…any more than…就是出自肯尼迪总统为登月计划发表的演讲中所采用的一个句式：I do not say that we should or will go unprotected against the hostile misuse of space any more than we go unprotected against the hostile use of land and sea. 再比如05年第50题In dealing with a challenge on such a scale, it is no exaggeration to say, “Unity we stand, divided we fall”--…，Unity we stand, divided we fall 也是出自林肯总统著名的Gettysburg Address. 熟悉原文的同学则可以翻译的更“雅”一些，比如，团结则存,分裂则亡或者合即立,分即垮等等。
这些雅致的翻译也会在判卷的时候为考生增分。
总之，考生如果在平时的学习中注意积累，并辅以小技巧，考研英语翻译就应该不是块难啃的硬骨头了。
这就要求考生平时练习时一定要规范，做一道题时一定要按照思路完整的写出步骤，这样才能得到满分，也能锻炼思路的清晰性和思维的完整性。
练习时，一定不要投机取巧，一定不要有“差不多对了”这样的想法在脑海中浮现。
力求踏实，得出的结果一定要有理有据，要能说服自己，这样才能达到做练习的效果，才能适应考试变动的大趋势。
只要自己复习的扎实，基本功过硬，试题再怎么变化也不会影响自己的发挥，这就叫“万变不离其宗”，在数学中，这个“宗”就是指基本概念，基本理论和基本方法。
只要这些东西掌握了，再怎么考，再怎么测，再怎么淘汰也不会淘汰到你的头上。
第二个变动是：在微分学部分增加了对了解泰勒(Taylor)定理的考试要求，这个变动我想主要出于以下考虑：1、往年泰勒(Taylor)定理对于考数三的同学是不做要求的，但是鉴于泰勒公式在一些较复杂函数近似表达中的重要性和简便性，所以考生还是有必要了解的；2、虽然往年对于泰勒(Taylor)定理不做要求，但是在考试中往往有些学生在解题过程中用到泰勒定理，那么到底算不算超纲解法一直有争议，所以还是有必要明确一下。
所以今年就把这个泰勒(Taylor)定理加上了，明确的要求掌握，这样就不会再出现争议了。
针对这个修订，主要有以下建议：1、既然是新增内容，考生一定要在复习过程中加强这一方面的练习 ，掌握其基本的出题思路和基本解法，弄清楚概念、公式。
但是一定不要有什么心理负担，认为新增的内容可能考的比较难，其实大家看考纲的要求就知道，对这个知识点的要求是比较低的，属于了解内容。
所以只要踏实复习，掌握基本内容，基本题型和解法就可以了。
2、由于往年考试不要求这部分内容，加上今年大纲出来的较晚，大部分考生在前一段时间的复习中没有注意这部分内容，所以以后的复习中有针对性地做一些专项训练还是很有必要的，毕竟是知识薄弱点嘛，由于要求也不高，可以抓一下，这部分的分数应该不会丢的。
第三个变动是：明确给出了函数图形的凹凸性的“官方”说明，即“在区间(a,b)内，设函数f(x)具有二阶导数，当f(x)ii>0时，f(x)的图形是凹的；当f(x)ii<0时，f(x)的图形是凸的”，针对这个改动，主要是因为现在各高校用的教材不一致，五花八门，不利于考生，也不利于阅卷，所以明确以后考生就可以只识记这一个概念就可以了，另一个原因就是在数学中和经济中对凹凸性的定义不一样，考生在这部分容易迷惑，所以大家了解一下这点就可以了。
那么针对这个变动建议大家在复习过程中尽量使用与大纲一致的一些符号和定义。
第四个变动是：增加了二项分布、泊松分布、均匀分布、指数分布二维正态分布的表示方法。
对于这个变化主要也是考虑的课本版本的不同出现了表示的不同，所以这样明确的规定有利于表示符号的统一。
