Protection of Environment (about 250 words)The protection of environment is a global issue which can not be tackled with by a single country alone. Ever since the industrial revolution, more and more coal has been burned as a fuel. Hence a lot of smoke was emitted into the atmosphere and the air we breathe in every day is heavily polluted. Some factories deliberately discharge sewage into the rivers or lakes which seriously polluted the water. The leakage of oil tanks has heavily polluted the sea and made the sea environment unsuitable for the sea animals like whales, dolphins, seals to survive. Through breathing in the polluted air and drinking the polluted water many people have got trouble with their health. With a large of amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, there appears the greenhouse effect on the globe. Carbon dioxide is the largest contributor to the greenhouse effect. According to the scientist statistics, the temperature of the earth is getting higher, on the average, by about 0.3 degree centigrade every year. In another 100 year time, our descendents will not be able to survive on the earth anymore. Now it is most urgent for all the countries in the world, with the industrialized countries in particular, to take concerted actions to fight against pollution. It was the industrialized countries that caused the heavy pollution in the last century, so they should take more responsibilities in controlling pollution on a world wide scale. They should transmit the skill and technology and give financial assistance to the developing and under developing countries.
