我爱地球妈妈I love my mama earth今天有幸能与同学们聚在一起谈论关于保护环境、保护地球的问题，我非常高兴，我们都知道Today I am very honored and also pleased to be here and have us all gathered around for a discussion of the issue -----protecting the evironment, protecing the earth. As we all know,“保护地球，低碳环保”是一个老话题了。

Even, there is still a rather large group of people treat this issue as a slogen without actions. Therefore, I think there is a growing need for us to call on more and more people to protect the environment as they do with their eyes and dearly lives.是的,我们人类无疑是妈妈的骄傲,可是,同学们,我们曾经的所作所为却是那么的让妈妈伤心失望。
Surely, the mama earth would be proud of us human beings for our achievements. But at the same time, how disappointed would she be if she knows the improper things we have done.大量的调查,科学的数据告诉我们:一节废弃的干电池能使1平方米的土地50年寸草不生。
According to various research, some distinct data shows that it only takes one dumped dry cell to make a complete square of land grassless in 50 years.废弃电池对河流、湖泊、地下水、土地的污染危机着人类健康,更破坏着人类的生存环境。
而人类从来没有因此而过多的内疚、忏悔,反而更为疯狂的加速着对环境的破坏,对资源的掠夺。
Dumped cells endanger the ecology of rivers, lakes,underwaters and earth. And even worse, they intimidates human's health and surroundings. In the past, those who produced tons of waste including dumped cells ---- human beings, never felt too much of regretness or penitence. Instead, they accelerated the process of exploiting resources accompanied with environmental distruction. 而所幸的是,面对这些残酷的现实，地球的儿女们已经开始反省了。
Luckily for the mama earth, her children have started to make introspections of their deeds as things get worse and worse.今天世界各国,包括着960万平方公里土地的大中国,正以一个全新的姿态行动起来。
At present, countries from all over the world, including our great motherland China of approximately 9,600,000 square kilometers, are taking actions with a whole new aspect of them.比如从总体上看，我国生态环境恶化的趋势已初步得到遏制，部分地区有所改善，但目前我国环境形势仍然相当严峻，不容乐观。
Take our own country as an example. Even though ecological distructions have been halted and great changes have been taken place in several areas, the all-around enviromental situation is still tough at present.严峻的环境形势迫使我们必须做出选择：是持续发展还是自我毁灭。
毫无疑问，我们应当刻不容缓地采取有效措施，防治环境污染与破坏。
否则，日益恶化的环境将使我们在其他领域中所取得的一切成就黯然失色。
The sirious situation now puts two options in front of us: either sustained development or self-destruction. We would definitely choose the former, and do our best in taking efficient actionsto protect our environment from pollution and distruction. If not, our achievements in any other scopes would be overshadowed by a heavily damaged environment.同学们，保护环境这个任务离我们并不遥远，我们有很多力所能及的事情，比如捡起掉在地上的一张小纸片，关紧水龙头，不让那几滴水白白流走做起，等等。
