创作于1600~1601年的剧本《哈姆雷特》整整被推崇了几个世纪。
就是到现在，依然感觉他震撼人心。
而这一切不是情节的因素，也不仅仅是出色的文学手法，是它所体现出来的问题。
在很大的层面上，它描写的是一种极其原始的悲剧，人的悲剧。

实际上这个王子并没有给老国王复仇，尽管他最后刺死了新国王，但这更大的意义上是为了行将死去的自己。
他的复仇很失败，因为他一直在彷徨，他憎恨这个世界，也憎恨自己。
他对别人冷嘲热讽，对自己则是不断地责备。
他尝试着去做一些事情，但更多时候他一动不动。
他的形象，和其他人的英雄般的鲁莽相比，更像是一位痛苦的智者。
他更多的进行精神上的抗争。

But Wuthering Heights was not well received by the reading public, many of whom condemned it as sordid, vulgar, and unnatural--and author Emily Bronte went to her grave in 1848 believing that her only novel was a failure. It was not until 1850, when Wuthering Heights received a second printing with an introduction by Emily's sister Charlotte, that it attracted a wide readership. And from that point the reputation of the book has never looked back. Today it is widely recognized as one of the great novels of English literature. Wuthering Heights is a story of love and revenge; it is the typical gothic novel. It is told in the form of an extended flashback. After a visit to his strange landlord, a newcomer to the area desires to know the history of the family--which he receives from Nelly Deans, a servant who introduces us to the Earnshaw family who once resided in the house known as Wuthering Heights. 之后他在回想到与罗素、kevin和狗的生活，这些让他感受到了朋友的重要。
他就马上行动去救罗素。
