在文学史上，有许多的经典名著永垂不朽，但能够像《简爱》这样深深地进入人们内心的，为数不多。它以一种不可抗拒的美感吸引了成千上万的读者，影响着人们的精神世界。
那个时代贵族的清闲和优雅，即使是社会最底层的贫民，也是服装整洁，知书达礼这就能反映当时的社会文化，这些都是现在的电影怎么刻意也刻意不出来的。优雅，来自于文化的沉淀，不是一代两代的文化能够沉淀下来的，这种气质和财富无关，是纯粹的文化沉积，一个有这样文化沉淀的人即使沦落成乞丐，他也会优雅地去乞讨，这就是曾经的贵族。

这是一部具有浓厚浪漫主义色彩的现实主义小说，而她是一个心地纯洁、善于思考的女性，她生活在社会底层，受尽磨难，但她却有倔强的性格和勇于追求平等幸福的精神。她便是书中的主人公简爱。
读过这本书的人，都会被那个不安于现状、不甘受辱、敢于抗争的简爱所折服。“难道就因为我贫穷、地位低下、相貌平平而且身材矮小就没有灵魂，没有一颗心吗？你想错了！我的心灵和你的一样丰富，我的心也和你的一样充实。”读完这部小说，简爱的这句话始终在我的脑中萦绕。这是简爱的平等宣言，也是一名女性追求尊严的真实写照。
的确，一个人虽不能决定自己的出生，样貌等外在的东西，但是每个人在人格上是平等的，不应凭一个人的地位高低、财富多少，相貌美丑等来决定一个人的贵贱。每个人都有自己的人生追求。命运是掌握在自己手中的。选择什么样的人生由自己决定。
简爱就是凭着这样的信念，不因自己贫苦的出生，普通的外貌而抱怨不已，而是通过自己的努力和奋斗，获得了她渴望的平等与真诚的爱情，过上了她想要的平静与安定的生活。就是这样一名女子，她称不上漂亮，还在人群中一抓就是一大把的那种，普通的不能再普通了，却以她那独具特色的人格魅力与自强不息的人生感动了无数的读者，也征服和激励了一代又一代的人。

在我的心目中，《简爱》是一部完美而伟大的著作，因为它使我懂得了什么是善恶美丑，学会了怎样做人。书中的主人公简爱就是我学习的榜样，她的聪明、善良、坚强、有主见，是最令人佩服的。简爱的一生悲欢离合，她遭遇了许多挫折和坎坷，可以说是不幸的，但她却从不向命运低头，任何困难在她面前都会感到恐惧。
简爱从小被她的舅妈收养，受尽了她的折磨。而且她舅舅的儿子约翰里德还是一个又胖又大、蛮横无理的恶魔。他经常无缘无故地打骂简爱，她的舅妈不但不制止，反而支持她蛮横的儿子。然而，简爱是一个顽强的、绝不向恶势力低头的人。她再也忍受不了了，她对约翰的恨压倒了对她的畏惧，不顾一切在跟他对打起来。当然，结果可想而知，简爱受到了她舅妈的惩罚。但她的这次举动足以令约翰胆颤心惊。
简爱说过这样的一句话，给我的印象很深，也很能体现她的性格“不公道的人百依百顺，那么那些坏家伙就更要任性胡来了。他们会什么也不惧怕，这样也就永远不会改好，反而越来越坏，当我们无缘无故地挨了打，我们一定要狠狠地还回去。”我很赞成简爱的这种说法，因为自尊自重是做人的最起码的要求。
但是海伦彭斯，她的观点与简爱是截然不同的。海伦主张凡事能忍就忍，这样自己快乐别人也会对你好一些。我觉得海伦这些话在我们看来是很让人不可理解的。但是她的宽容、忍让以及她那博大的胸怀，是令人钦佩的。我们无需去评价她的话，至少我们应从中悟出些什么。我很喜欢海伦的一句话“我觉得生命太短促了，不值得把它花费在怀恨和记仇上。”只要我们每人都能记住它，多多去理解别人、体谅别人、关心别人，多看到一些美好的事物，乐观地对待生活，我们的生活中一定会充满阳光。
时间会消除报复的渴望，平息愤恨和憎恶的冲动。简爱曾经是带着满腔怨恨离开她舅妈的，但当听说里德太太生命垂危，又很想见她一面的时候，简爱忘了她的一切不好，毫不犹豫地回到了她曾经厌恶的地方。当她见到里德太太时，简爱所剩的都是对她的怜悯之情。但是里德太太告诉了她一件很重要的事情：在三年前，简爱的叔叔给她写了一封信，想让她继承他的遗产，因为他无儿无女，想收留简爱为养女，但是因为里德太太当时对她厌恶至极，也不想让她走运过上富人的日子。所以她给简爱的叔叔回信说简爱在洛伍德患伤寒病死了。就这样简爱失去了一个转变自己命运的好机会。里德太太的这种行为是很令人气愤的，然而简爱却没有计较这件事，还不住地安慰里德太太让她把这些事统统忘掉，而且简爱很希望能与她和解，直到死去也没能改变她对简爱的态度，这让简爱无奈又痛苦。通过这件事，简爱在我心中的形象更加高大起来了。简爱的身上到处都有闪光点。她善良又宽容，那种视金钱如粪土的精神更是当今社会的人应该学习的。

We remember her self-respect and the clear situation on equality. In her opinion, everyone is the same at the God’s feet. Though there are differences in status、in property and also in appearance, but all the human being are equal in personality.
We also remember her striving for life, her toughness and her confidence…
When we think of this girl, what she gave us was not a pretty face or a transcendent temperament that make us admire deeply, but a huge charm of her personality.
Actually, she wasn’t pretty, and of course, the ordinary appearance didn’t make others feel good of her, even her own aunt felt disgusted with it. And some others even thought that she was easy to look down on and to tease, so when Miss Ingram met Jane Eyre, she seemed quite contemptuous, for that she was obviously much more prettier than ‘the plain and ugly governess’. But as the little governess had said: ‘Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I am soulless and heartless? You think wrong!’ This is the idea of equality in Jane Eyre’s mind. God hadn’t given her beauty and wealth, but instead, God gave her a kind mind and a thinking brain. Her idea of equality and self-respect impress us so much and let us feel the power inside her body.
In my mind, though a person’s beauty on the face can make others once feel that one is attractive and charming, if his or her mind isn’t the same beautiful as the appearance, such as beauty cannot last for, when others find that the beauty which had charmed them was only a falsity, it’s not true, they will like the person no more. For a long time, only a person’s GREat virtue, a noble soul, a beautiful heart can be called as AN EVERLASTING BEAUTY, just as Kahill Gibran has said, that ‘Beauty is a heart enflamed and a soul enchanted’. I can feel that how beauty really is, as we are all fleshly men, so we can’t distinguish whether a man is of nobleness or humbleness, but fleshly men, so we can’t distinguish whether a man is of nobleness or humbleness, but as there are great differences in our souls, and from that, we can know that whether a man is noble or ordinary, and even obscure, that is, whether he is beautiful or not.
Jane Eyre, is a poor but aspiring, small in body but huge in soul, obscure but self-respecting girl. After we close the covers of the book, after having a long journey of the spirit, Jane Eyre, a marvelous figure, has left us so much to recall and to think:
