阿退伊利丹之利丹跑回黑暗神殿，阿尔萨斯一剑砍碎了冻结巫妖王的冰带上了巫妖王的头盔，于是巫妖王正式诞生了，之后巫妖王将庞大的移动要塞（那时候的航空母舰）：阿彻鲁斯-黑风要塞开到了东瘟疫之地的血色十字军基地，一边培训自己的死亡骑士大军，一边设计摧毁血色十字军的计划，巫妖王的死亡骑士们一路杀到了血色十字军最后的基地：圣光之愿礼拜堂，巫妖王的死亡骑士指挥官达里安围剿十字军时，提里奥-弗丁出现了，他感召并救赎了达利安让他摆脱巫妖王的控制，同时弗丁拿起达利安的灰烬使者（这剑是达利安父亲的，是斩杀亡灵的神器，后来达利安弑父夺走灰烬使者，灰烬使者本身也变得堕落），在圣光的照耀下灰烬使者得以净化，老弗丁给了巫妖王一击重创，将巫妖王打伤，受伤的巫妖王跑回诺森德召集军队，弗丁组织了银色北伐军杀进冰冠冰川，中间不得不提到一个人，伯瓦尔勋爵，联盟的伯瓦尔和部落的小萨鲁法尔杀到巫妖王基地的大门：天谴之门，巫妖王一剑将萨鲁法尔砍死并吸收了灵魂。
伯瓦尔和众人大惊失色之时，背叛部落的被遗忘者出现了并对巫妖王和联盟部落的军队不分敌我的发动毒剂袭击，巫妖王忍受不了新型病毒撤退回堡垒，伯瓦尔被毒熏得奄奄一息，这时红龙女王一把大火烧光了被遗忘者和他们的毒药，伯瓦尔因红龙的生命之火没有死掉，被巫妖王抓进冰冠堡垒进行折磨，后来弗丁领着北伐军杀进冰冠堡垒，在巫妖王的出生地打败了他，阿尔萨斯与巫妖王头盔分离，死掉，阿尔萨斯之父泰瑞纳斯的灵魂告诉弗丁，必须有一个人继承巫妖王的意志，否则诺森德的亡灵将失控，那时便是世界末日，弗丁准备自己带上，伯瓦尔阻止他并说服他把头盔戴在自己头上，伯瓦尔的意志很坚定，是做巫妖王的不二人选，弗丁把巫妖王的头盔戴给伯瓦尔之后，新的巫妖王伯瓦尔把自己冰封在寒冰中，并告诉弗丁，告诉人们伯瓦尔已经战死，带着他的人离开诺森德，永远不要再回来。
