读斯坦贝克《愤怒的葡萄》 没在哈代那儿读出什么社会意义，尽管人家总是以其标榜，尽管我也并不认为唯具有社会意义才堪称好小说。
而《愤怒的葡萄》则当真是一部深具社会意义的小说，浓缩了一个时代的社会状况，且是如此细腻而又深刻。
很久以来，一颗心没有被文字给这般震荡过了。
其实一直以来都在有意回避美国小说，努力程度仅次于回避日本小说。
之所以回避日本小说，缘于我讨厌那个民族，在我明确了自己的讨厌之后，就不肯再读日本小说了，就如同吃饭一样，饱腹的东西毕竟有很多，刻意舍弃两样我以为无关紧要，我也宁肯。
可是回避美国小说我却说不出啥清楚的理由，充其量能以“那到底是一块新大陆”来搪塞，而这样的理由似乎还无力促成这样的结果，那么其余还有啥，我也就不得而知了。
《愤怒的葡萄》出版于1939年，描写的是美国在20世纪30年代经济危机时期，大批农民因破产而逃荒的故事，通篇反映的是农民的被迫和无奈，以及咄咄逼人的贫穷，以及在山穷水尽的绝境下的凄惨挣扎。
