the giver 读后感

Feel the feeling in your life. This is thefrist of my impression when I finish my book ——. This book tell me something which we alwayshave it but always neglect it and think its granted. The Giveralso made me think, thnik about what is the true life, and what isthe real society. In this story, the main character, little Jonaswho is only 12 years old, will be a Giver in his world. His worldis a perfect place for writer. A world is no fight, neednt worrywhat kind of tomorrow will be, even they never worry about death, ill and somethink unknow. When Im reading, I have a feeling, itsjealousy, and unfair. Why they can live that happy? But I waswrong, the truth is its not a world, not a life, they even not tobe a human being, they cant be their self. They cant hear music, cant see color. And all those thing need to be accepted. When Ifinish The Giver, I feel some thing lose in the books world, theylose choice, already jobs, already children, also the alreadylife. I think the only reason Jonas will run a way is this world isno love, all people live in indifferent.I think the society in thebook its not the freedom world. They might need some change, likeJonas, the main character. Storys start is about a harmonious society, they assigning jobs to each person by a evaluation of their skill, each family made by matching up husbands and wives by personality, they can balance each other, and only can havetwo children, one girl and one boy. In the story, it is also tellthat there is a surveillance system that can monitors the entiresociety. Bicycles is the only transportation; Except some of carsand airplanes for the main use of transporting food. But when time progresses in the story, thissocietys cruel become clearly and clearly. The society has losttheideas of family and love, and nature. Most ofanimal was gone(or be killed). Here is no river and fish. The story is arondRelease, but what is Release? The people in thestory think Release is just change a city to live, and another cityis also a world like the world which they are living. Its not thetruth, actually Release is euthanasia. The rule of this society isWrong thing can be happen one or two times, everybody will forgiveyou if you apologize, but if you get the third time same wrong, youwill be Release.. Here has two other reason to be Release, fristyou are old man, second, if twin are born byBirthmothers, the light one will be Release. Jonas will be the Giver, the Giver is the most important person inthe community. He can experience pain, love, and sees color, whileno one else can. The giver has a huge memory system in his mind, itsave the world before assimilation of all thing which havehappened. When something happen, the leader will ask Giver to findthe way to solve. But Giver must brought bear the pain of memory, most of people cant bear it. Jonas do it, he find a new world formthe memory, and want to be the world in memory, want to change theworld he has,The end of thestoryis unclearly and unknow, we even dont knowis the end good or bad. The cold temprature give Jonas andGabriels future dangerous. However, at the endit hints that he may have hear music which comesfrom another way, and that he and Gabriel mightcan survived or find a real new world.

(Frog Story)

This story started the writer work at a logcabin in those same woods of Northern Wisconsin, somehow a tree frog that hastaken up residence in the studio keep showing. First the writer thoughtpossibly the tone of his computer sounded like other tree frogs to attractedthe frog, then because of what his doing-working on a story about globalclimate change, he realized the frog actually want to send a message to him: Wehave reached the time when we must be the adults for the planet, for the sakeof the future generations of human and for frogs.Environmental problems are becoming moreand more serious all over the world. With the development of industry andagriculture, cars make great noises and give off poisonous gas. Trees on thehills have been cut down, and waste water is being poured continuously intorivers. (A Review of Robinson Crusoe) This is a novel by the English author Daniel Defoe, published in 1719. It is one of the most popular adventure novels in all literature. It is the story of Bobinson Crusoe, an Englishman who is shipwrecked in a lonely tropical island. He builds himself a hut, grows his own food, and becomes self-sufficient. After 23 years he meets with a group of cannibals and rescues one of their prisoners, a young native whome he calls Friday.Crusoe and his“man”Friday become close friends, and when they are finally rescued four years later, both return to England. Robinson Crusoe was partly based on the actual deeds of Alexander Selkirk, an 18th-century Scottish sailor who spent almost five years alone on a desert island. This novel is famous for its lovely details and its expression of belief in man's ability when left alone in nature.

the awakening(觉醒) 读后感

The AwakeningKate Chopin has been considered to be a great American female writer and her reputation as major American writer has been on the increase ever since the feminist movement in what hers the awakening has been rediscovered. The novel, with its balance structure, poetic language, super use of symbols, especially its barely connotation has aroused interests of one generation after another. The aim of this thesis is to reinterpret the novel from feminist criticism has gradually become one of the mainstreams in the critical world. This is simply a story about a lonely and desperate housewife who couldn't bear her boredom and craving for young and pleasant male company, throwing away all the duty and responsibilities of a wife and mother to join her lamentable self-meditating new life. The author seems to make every attempt to justify an affair. Edna flirted outrageously with a few young men and accidentally fell in love with one of them. If awakening means falling in love with somebody else instead of your husband, someone much younger than you are, and finally failing to have the courage of getting a divorce and flying away with your lover, you'd better not wake up. Edna is extremely pathetic. Even though it is no doubted the book is well written and well received. This is by no means a joyful feminism text. I'm sorry for her husband and sorry for Robert. She doesn't worth it. But still, the book is absolutely worth reading.

The Independent Spirit——about“ Jane Eyer” This is a story about a special and unreserved woman who has been exposed to a hostile environment but continuously and fearlessly struggling for her ideal life. The story can be interpreted as a symbol of the independent spirit. It seems to me that many readers’ English reading experience starts with Jane Eyer. I am of no exception. As we refer to the movie “Jane Eyer”, it is not surprising to find some differences because of its being filmized and retold in a new way, but the spirit of the novel remains----to be an independent person, both physically and mentally. Jane Eyer was a born resister, whose parents went off when she was very young, and her aunt, the only relative she had, treated her as badly as a ragtag. Since Jane’s education in Lowwood Orphanage began, she didn’t get what she had been expecting——simply being regarded as a common person, just the same as any other girl around. The suffers from being humiliated and devastated teach Jane to be persevering and prize dignity over anything else.As a reward of revolting the ruthless oppression, Jane got a chance to be a tutor in Thornfield Garden. There she made the acquaintance of lovely Adele and that garden’s owner, Rochester, a man with warm heart despite a cold face outside. Jane expected to change the life from then on, but fate had decided otherwise: After Jane and Rochester fell in love with each other and got down to get marry, she unfortunately came to know in fact Rochester had got a legal wife, who seemed to be the shadow following Rochester and led to his moodiness all the time ----Rochester was also a despairing person in need of salvation. Jane did want to give him a hand, however, she made up her mind to leave, because she didn’t want to betray her own principles, because she was Jane Eyer. The film has finally got a symbolist end: Jane inherited a large number of legacies and finally returned. After finding Rochester’s misfortune brought by his original mad wife, Jane chose to stay with him forever. I don’t know what others feel, but frankly speaking, I would rather regard the section that Jane began her teaching job in Thornfield as the film’s end----especially when I heard Jane’s words “Never in my life have I been awaken so happily.” For one thing, this ideal and brand-new beginning of life was what Jane had been imagining for long as a suffering person; for another, this should be what the audiences with my views hoped her to get. But the professional judgment of producing films reminded me to wait for a totally different result: There must be something wrong coming with the excellence----perhaps not only should another section be added to enrich the story, but also we may see from the next transition of Jane’s life that “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you would get.” (By Forrest Gump’s mother, in the film “Forrest Gump”) What’s more, this film didn’t end when Jane left Thornfield. For Jane Eyer herself, there should always be somewhere to realize her great ideal of being independent considering her fortitude, but for Rochester, how he can get salvation? The film gives the answer tentatively: Jane eventually got back to Rochester. In fact, when Jane met Rochester for the first time, she scared his horse and made his heel strained, to a certain extent, which meant Rochester would get retrieval because of Jane. We can consider Rochester’s experiences as that of religion meaning. The fire by his frantic wife was the punishment for the cynicism early in his life. After it, Rochester got the mercy of the God and the love of the woman whom he loved. Here we can say: human nature and divinity get united perfectly in order to let such a story accord with the requirements of both two sides. The value of this film may be due to its efforts to explore a new way for the development of humanism under the faith of religion. Life is ceaselessly changing, but our living principles remain. Firmly persisting for the rights of being independent gives us enough confidence and courage, which is like the beacon over the capriccioso sea of life. In the world of the film, we have found the stories of ourselves, which makes us so concerned about the fate of the dramatis personae. In this era of rapid social and technological change leading to increasing life complexity and psychological displacement, both physical and mental effects on us call for a balance. We are likely to find ourselves bogged down in the Sargasso Sea of information overload and living unconsciousness. It’s our spirit that makes the life meaningful. Heart is the engine of body, brain is the resource of thought, and great films are the mirrors of life. Indubitably, “Jane Eyer” is one of them.

Love seems to be the perpetual theme all over the world. But actually what is love? For most girls in 20s, love may mean everything to them. They seek for love bravely no matter what difficulties they may face. In their eyes, love is pure or even holy. However, those are just an ideal situation, n real life; people tend to find a balance between love and property. Pride and prejudice is Austin’s great work. Through the discussion of the different marriages and love, the writer demonstrates her concept about love and marriage: love and marriage is closely associated with property and society, however, love and marriage can not only be decided by the property and social status. An ideal marriage should be based on mutual affection, respect and the same interest. She rejects the marriage based only on wealth. Different people have different ideas upon marriage. By the description and discussion of the four marriages in the novel, we can see that Austen fully expresses her views on love and marriage. Only by appreciating the marriage founded on the basis of mutual understanding and true love, but also by satirizing the marriage founded on the basis of origin and desire. The rest of your life might be miserable, and your marriage will filled with endless bitterness. Many people simply regard Pride and Prejudice as a love story, but in my opinion, t book is an illustration of the society at that time. She perfectly reflected the relation between money and marriage at her time and gave the people in her works vivid characters. The characters have their own peralities. Mrs. Bennet is a woman who makes great efforts to marry off her daughters. Mr. Bingley is a friendly young man, but friend, Mr. Darcy, is a very proud man who seems to always feel superior. Even the five daughters in Bennet family are very different. Jane is simple, innocent and never speaks evil of others. Elizabeth is a clever girl who always has her own opinion. Mary likes reading classic books. (Actually she is a pedant.) Kitty doesn’t have her own opinion but likes to follow her sister, Lydia. Lydia is a girl who follows exotic things, handsome man, and is somehow a little profligate. When I read the book, I can always find the same peralities in the society now. That is why I think this book is indeed the representative of the society in Britain in the 18th century. The family of gentleman in the countryside is Jane Austen’s favourite topic. But this little topic can reflect big problems. It concludes the stratum situation and economic relationships in Britain in her century. You can find these from the very beginning of this book. The first sentence in this book is impressive. It reads: “It is a truth well known to all the world that an unmarried man in possession of a large fortune must be in need of a wife”. The undertone is very clear: the foundation of the marriage at that time is not emotion but possession. People always think that Austen was an expert at telling love stories. In fact, the marriage in her book is not the result of love, but the result of economic needs. After reading this book, I know the truth is that a poor woman must be in need of a husband, a wealthy man. I couldn’t forget how eager Mrs. Bennet wants to marry off her daughters. If you want to know why she is so crazy about these things, I must mention the situation in Britain at that time. Only the eldest had the privilege of inheriting his father’s possessions. Younger sons and daughters who are used to luxurious lives have no choice but marry a man or woman in possession of a large fortune to continue their comfortable lives. Thus, we can see that getting married is a way to become wealthier, particularly for women without many possessions. Jane Austen told us that money and possession determined everything, including marriage and love in her century. In “Pride and Prejudice”, the sister of Mr. Bingley strongly opposed his plan of marrying Jane because the Bennets don’t have many possessions and their social positions are much lower than them. From this, we can see there are a lot of obstacles for a not very rich woman to marry a wealthy husband. The society, the relatives would not allow them to get married. In modern society, although the marriages of economic needs have decreased rapidly, the concept of “money determines everything” is still rooted in some people’s mind. A lot of parents try hard to interfere their children’s marriages. Education background, possessions, jobs remains the main reason that may influence one’s marriage. Marry for money is still a big problem in our society. We can’t help thinking: can money determine everything? Austen left this problem for us to think. The genius of Jane Austen lies in this perfect simplicity, the simplicity that reflects big problems. Although Austen was only 21 when she wrote “Pride and Prejudice”, her sharp observation of social lives makes the style of this book surprisingly mature and lively. The plots in her works are always very natural. The development of the plot is as inevitable as a problem in mathematics. I think the depth of Pride and Prejudice is the reason that makes this book prominent and classic. Today, her book still can be the guide telling us the economic relationships both at her time and in modern time.
