莎士比亚剧本汉译版本中最主要的有四个翻译家，分别是朱生豪、卞之琳、梁实秋和施咸荣。
他们四个翻译大家的译文风格和主要成就简述如下：1. 朱生豪译文色彩明亮，声韵和谐，主要以散文文体翻译，但是原句使用韵文的地方也用文言韵文译出。
他翻译莎剧所遵原则如下：“第一在求于最大可能之范围内，保持原作之神韵；必不得已而求其次，亦必以明白晓畅之字句，忠实传达原文之意趣；而于逐字逐句对照式之硬译，则未敢赞同。
”朱译面世后，好评如潮。
王元化曾说：“朱译在传神达旨上可以说是首屈一指的，……不仅优美流畅，而且在韵味、音调、气势、节奏种种行文微妙处，莫不令人击节赞赏，是我读到莎剧中译得最好的译文，迄今尚无出其右者。
