在生活中寻找想像源
陶行知先生曾说：“生活即教育，社会即学校。”因此，写作教学也应贴近学生实际，引导学生融入社会这所大学校中，让学生易于动笔，乐于表达，引导学生关注现实，热爱生活。
日常生活中经常存在着不尽如人意的事物，如学生使用橡皮留下橡皮屑，黑板擦上的粉笔灰易厚难除，家里使用的瓷杯易碎，穿的鞋子易破，一物不能多用等。作文教学中，教师可以先让学生说说自己使用过哪些物品，想象出某一物品在使用时存在的缺点，进而寻找改进这些缺点的方法，这在心理学上叫“缺点想象训练法”，并引导学生将自己的想法说一说，与他人交流后完善观点再写下来。除此以外，还可以利用生活中的事物激发学生的想象力，如一张全家福照片、一张笑脸、一件同学赠送的礼物等，都可以勾起学生的回忆，调动学生生活积累，从而使学生有感而发，让想象的思潮尽情迸涌，倾泻于字里行间。如教学《一张笑脸》时，教师可以在黑板上画几张不同的笑脸，让学生选择其中一种说说他是怎么笑的，比如：眯着眼笑，咧开嘴笑，苦着脸笑等。再让学生做着这样的表情想想为什么事会这样笑，这样学生易于和自己身上曾发生的或亲眼看到的事相联系，但因为是想象作文，学生又可以脱离框框的限制，无拘无束地写作。

写作是运用语言文字进行表达和交流的重要方式，是进行创造性表述的过程。“故事接龙”这种形式的作文，集中体现了创造性，但这不仅是个人的创造，还是集体智慧的精华。这种作文需要同学之间的密切配合。
教师可以将学生每四人分为一组，限定编故事的时间，以“从前有一位年轻的猎人”或“从前有一位善良的农夫”等句开头讲故事，小组四人每人一句，并标上序号，这样循环下去，直至时间结束。写作时，即按四人本上的序号将句子串联成一篇完整的故事，再讨论交流，还可以组织全班进行最具创新故事组评比，带动学生的热情。这样的故事新奇有趣，体现着学生的合作精神，闪烁着学生的智慧光芒，不仅激发了学生的写作兴趣，更培养了学生的思维能力和创造精神。

在借用中拓宽思路
语文教材是丰富的资源，很多文章句子都存在着空白，尤其诗歌，给学生开辟了一片想象的天地。诗文是一个统一体，诗中有文，文中有诗，教师可以借助文中的诗引导学生补充空白。
如《寻隐者不遇》，诗中只写了诗人的一问和童子的三句回答，中间诗人如何问的，我们要根据童子的回答来猜测，教师可以先引导学生补充出两人比较完整的对话，同时配合课文中的插图发挥想象，想想诗人在什么情况下去的，当时的天气、周围的环境如何，两人是怎样进行对话的，没看到隐者，诗人会怎么想、怎么做等，先说再写下来。

小明连大气都不敢出，认真地听两头石狮子讲话。一头石狮子说：“我叫小康，你呢?”另一头石狮子说：“我叫小琪，不如我们交个朋友吧。”“当然好啦，我没有朋友，你是我的第一个朋友”小康急忙说。小琪微笑着说：“你也是我的第一个朋友，你为什么没有朋友，是因为样子丑吗?”“是……是的，你……你怎么知道?”小康吞吞吐吐地说。小琪难过地说：“我也是因为这样才没有朋友的。”小康带着苦涩的笑容，说：“我们是‘同是天涯沦落人’，对不对，小琪?”“就是!就是!”小琪用肯定地语气说，“再说，我本来不是这个样子的，就是因为那些可恶的人类不讲文明，经常骑在我身上，还在我身上乱图乱画，用小刀在我身上刻字。”“你也是因为这样才这么丑，我也是的。我一定要找人类报仇。”小康愤怒地说。呀!这可把小明吓了一跳，因为他经常骑在石狮子身上，还在它身上乱图乱画，用小刀在它身上刻字。小明的心像小闹钟一样，“滴答、滴答”地跳。“好，我们就这样办!”小琪赞同地说，“明天我们就去报复人类”说完，小琪大大方方地走了，小康也跟着走了。
小明想：我去睡觉，明天一觉醒来，肯定发现这是一个梦，不用担心。“小明!小明!快起来!快起来!”小明眯着个眼睛，隐隐约约看见是妈妈在叫他，可小明昨天睡得太晚了，今天不想起床，说：“不嘛，不嘛，我不想起床!”妈妈用温和的语音说：“邻居家的小弟弟和小妹妹坐石狮子的时候摔伤了，流了好多血，我们去看看他们，好吗?这说来也怪，坐石狮子的小朋友差不多都摔伤了，也不知道他们是怎么搞的，这么不小心。”小明听到“石狮子”三个字连忙坐起来，问：“邻居家的小弟弟、小妹妹是什么时候摔伤的?”妈妈说：“好像是今天早上吧，怎么了?”小明吞吞吐吐地说：“没，没什么，我，我只是好奇而已。妈妈，我不想去，我也想去看看石狮子，哦，对了，我看见石狮子挺脏的，我们去把它擦一擦吧。”妈妈说：“好，我听你的，那儿的石狮子确实很脏，看着就不舒服。”于是，小明和妈妈拿着水桶、刷子到石狮子那儿去了。小明一想起昨天晚上的一幕，心里仍是心惊胆战，亏昨天还以为是做梦了。小明认认真真的擦起石狮子的每一个地方，争取让石狮子不再生气，过路的人看小明擦的这么认真，也帮小明擦，不一会儿就擦干净了。小明还暗暗的求石狮子不要生气了。
第二天晚上，小明又听见石狮子说话了，但这次石狮子完全是带着快乐的心情说的话。在以后的日子里，小明每一周都会去擦一擦石狮子，另外，小明还在石狮子的胸前挂上了“爱护石狮子”的牌子……
